Maglaj, Bosnia and Herzegovina

I think it is time to bring back Bosnian City's to SSC, so Maglaj is a Beautiful start!

Maglaj is a very charming, old town in Northern Bosnia and Herzegovina. There is about 43.388 people living in the Municipality. It leys on the river Bosna, nestled between rolling green hills.. Maglaj has great potential for tourism! The city has hundreds of years of history, that is still preserved to this day (In 2008 Maglaj will celebrate it's 600'th birthday!). I believe the best attractions in the city are the Old town fortress, the Bosna river, and the Kuršumlija Dzamija/Mosque (constructed in 1560).

...finally here is Maglaj!

Panorama's of the Town.

...More to come

Beautiful, Yugoboy. I wish pictures did it justice. There isn't much to Maglaj but it is exceptionally well preserved.

For people who like villages, it's one of the best we have to offer, for certain.

yep, I agree. I think the mosque is somewhat of a Symbol of the Town.

Maglaj doesn't really look the best now, looking back at the pictures... but for example on this picture:

If the clean up the water front (cut down those tree's, clean up the bushes, add garden) It would look more clean less hmm how should I say grubby?
They could also repaint some of the commieblocks... The old town is already beautiful, so I think Maglaj has a great potential in Tourism.

..I mean just look at this mosque, I would visit the city just to see it!

Yes, especially since Maglaj is in Northern part of Bosnia, which in my opinion is most beautiful. In the centeral is great and all, but everything is in the mountains, a little to mountainous for me. than down south, is hercegovina which is beautiful, with the neretva, old Trebinje, Mostar, but the mountains just suck for me! I just find them ugly, because they are almost all rocky, with little trees.... And again I am a little biased because I am also from Northern Bosnia and Herzegovina.
