Thanks Jerv

There is another nice render of GNT HERE - It looks like a really interesting design.

Back to the mian subject. If some of you haven't seen it already, there is info, more renders and a link for the construction phase pics here for Beetham Tower

It really is going to be a lovely sleek looking scraper!

it's about time that a british city outside of london got a tall(ish) building. i hope we can see more like this outside of london in the coming years. manchester is leading the way it seems.

any idea when the blade goes on top? must be soon.

I think the blade should be going up within the next two weeks. It might be the case that they will finish the cladding before putting the blade on. Can't wait to see the finished product. Hope that it is lit up well at night too, it's such a signature building for Manchester.

Am awaiting the fate of Eastgate and Albany now!

i hope it is lit well too. maybe if they projected images/adverts directly onto the blade from the main roof? the blade has potential to be a great advertising board, don't you think?

Beetham to the right. The building on he left an apartment block called The Great Northern Tower, about 26 storeys. Picture courtesy of forum member, Christopher.

Saw this beauty in the flesh by the first time today and it really is an amazing peice of work. If anyone has doubts about the cladding (which I did at one point) all concerns will be gone when you see it. It is beautiful and amazing to look at. The cladding gives the building a facade you could stare at all day long! It's thin profile really works too.
