Hong Kongs Convention Centre is beautiful, but Sydneys Opera House has an unique design.
So I vote for Sydney

I prefer the Sydney Opera House. It's not that bad upclose either (maybe just needs a good scrubbing), and I love how it's lit at night. Also, the Harbour Bridge beside it is a beautiful juxtipositioning. Was the HKCC inspired by SOH?

I like them both... a lot, but I prefer Sydney's Opera House. It looks much sleeker up close. You don't get to see HK's CC's sleek design in it's full glory unless you're on a plane.

The HK convention center is very impressive.

But the Syndey Opera house a major world landmark. One the greatest modern structures of the 20th century.

Syndey gets my vote on this one.

as structures they are both great ...
however i would vote sydney as it is classic ... and it inspires many buildings after it ...
i am sure it inspires hkcec ...

hkcec is nice but the surrounding lacks activity ...
however as vistas goes
central plaza+hkcec makes a good couple ...
renderings of the new extension is out for hkcec ...

This lighting is not too bad IMO... I think the SOH looks good from any angle.

The HK Convention centre has the inspirational and beautiful Central Plaza as a backdrop but from Kowloon the convention centre is a bit ordinary IMO. Pehaps a little too biomophic within the context of CP and the Ren. Harbourview Hotel.

Love the Sydney Opera house, although the HK convention centre is nice as well. It's just that the Opera House is more distinct IMO.

I live in Sydney, so I'm biased - however I really do think the Opera House is more aesthetically pleasing. It's also unique, whereas the HKCC - while an interesting building - doesn't really stand alone in the way the Opera House does. The Opera House became an instant world landmark upon completion - I don't think the HKCC is really in that Opera House / Eiffel Tower / Golden Gate Bridge / Taj Mahal etc. league.

The Hong Kong Convention Centre gets my vote... The Sydney Opera house looks like a seagull that's crash-collided with cement.
