the opera house is so cliche; however it does stand out more. The hong kong center is too crowded and dwarfed by the skyscrapers surrounding it.

Sydney opera house is a world icon, has a great location yet isnt so nice up close especially when its overcast, also the simplest of drawings will let you know what it is. Hong kong one is a nice shape and impressive but not as distinctive, its surroundings (at least at the moment) arnt very user friendly either, also the hong kong one has to compete for attention with the much closer skyscrapers behind it.

HK's Convention Centre is innovative in its design and use. But honestly, Sydney's opera house is more iconic.

Between the two, I'll choose Sydney's

i love both, but i chose the HK Convention Center

buildings alone, i would choose the opera house, but seen in context with all the surroundings, i think the HK CC works, it fits.

I agree the Sydney Opear House is magical and having seen it three times it just is amazing everytime I see it, can't beat it and I think it is a new wonder of the world I think.

sydney opera house without a doubt. tested through time and still stands out amongst the new and upcoming ones. and imo it is the benchmark for cultural/convention centers up to this day.

Syd Opera House looks better from far away.
HK Convention looks better close up.

The Hong Kong Convention Centre has an interesting roof, but I like the Sydney Opera House better.

The two buildings were conceived with very different purpose and objectives. The Sydney Opera House was designed to impress, whereas HKCEC was designed for a more practical business function - it's a convention centre, not a cultural institution.
