Sorry guys but the John Hancock Center was finished in 1969. Close, but no cigar.

Clad in pure gold

First Canadian Place (298m) 1976
Tallest highrise in the British Commonwealth from 1975 until the completion of Malaysia's Petronas Twin Towers in 1998.

I like First Canadian Place a lot. The horizontal lines, nice facade, a quality box. I just hate those antennae on the roof.

First Canadian Place is aging quite badly though. The facade is a mix of colours these days :

It wouldn't look good especially being Toronto's tallest building. Unless they fix it.

They were fixing it, which is why there are different colours. The whiter tiles are newer replacements after the old ones were in danger of popping out.

US Steel gets my vote. I'm slightly biased as I get to see it every day. The triangle shape is what makes it special in my opinion.

Quite a shame they will be sticking UPMC's logo in top though. Doesn't seem right.

4 that's hard to choose from, obviously.

Jardine House, hometown love
WTC
Sears Tower
Transamerica Pyramid, another hometown love

Citigroup ... quite an engineering disaster but thank goodness it got fixed. Probably among the most famous ones though design-wise not too special.
