It is one of the longest loop motorways in the world, even though it's not a full loop, but a ¾ loop, the western part consists of the G85.
I believe there is a missing section of G93, from Leshan to Ya'an. And then S8 and the U/C (I believe from Google Earth) G4202 will form the remaining section.

This is quite a notable expressway. It includes the 13.122 meter long twin-tube Hongtiguan Tunnel (the third longest in China). The expressway number is S76.

It's also called Linzhou-Changzhi expressway, connecting the two cities in Henan and Shanxi Province. The Henan section has completed in 2012.

There are plans to built a motorway connection to Lhasa and Urumqi? If affirmative, how long before this motorways finish?

I think that motorways should be a great man engineering.

As far as I know, there is no plan to build a motorway from Lhasa to Urumqi: There's no need. But the current renovated highway G219, despite only 2 lanes, is almost like a motorway to drive on. See the last link in my signature.

What is AADT on that road? If there isn't much traffic then there simply is no need for an expressway.

I believe javimix19 has asked about plans for a expressway connection to Lhasa and to Urumqi, no between them.

AFAIK G30 to Urumqi and beyond to Kazakhstan border is already completed, it was finished last year. But I have seen plans for a G7 through extreme western Inner Mongolia and northern Gansu, it will run +1000 km through absolutely nothing. As for the expressway connection to Lhasa (the G6) I know it's open to Golmud in Qinghai province. Beyond that point it is still in planning stages. But it is unknown when they will build it due to altitude issues. But then, if they have made a railroad there, anything is possible.

China issues plan for national road network
Updated: 2013-06-20 16:37
( Xinhua)

Quote:
BEIJING - A plan to expand China's national road network to 401,000 km by 2030 was released on Thursday.

The plan, compiled by the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Transport, will require an investment of 4.7 trillion yuan ($761.8 billion), according to information provided at a joint press conference.

The network expansion aims to bring the length of national non-toll roads to 265,000 km and that of low-toll expressways to 118,000 km by 2030.

Despite booming construction in recent years, more than 900 counties in China have yet to be connected to the national road network and some expressways are overcrowded, according to Dai Dongchang, chief planner at the Ministry of Transport.

As of the end of 2012, China had 173,000 km of national-level roads, including 105,000 km of common roads and 68,000 km of expressways. The national-level roads accounted for 4 percent of China's road network at all levels, including national-level, provincial and rural roads.

The plan calls for the road network to reach a size of 5.8 million km by 2030.

G69 Yinchuan - Baise

http://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/银百高速公路

Chinese Wikipedia has an article about G69, an unconstructed national expressway that would run from Yinchuan to Baise. Parts of it would run fairly close to the Lanhai Expressway (G75), bypassing most larger cities. It would pass west of Xi'an, east of Chongqing and east of Guiyang, possibly extending to Hanoi in Vietnam.

I drew a rough path on Google Maps.

I just read on the Dutch news site of the 'AD' that China is going to build a 123 km long tunnel between Yantai and Dalian, east of Beijing. Does anyone have any info on this?
