It's still much easier in Europe to do public transit projects compared to North America.

How to replace a 10-lane overpass in 43 hours. This was in Beijing, the Sanyuan Bridge of the Third Ring Road, spanning the G101.

That big slab was put together onsite from smaller prefabricated pieces? And part of the road under the bridge remain open while they were putting together the big slab?

Chinese Wikipedia did not mention that number.

I was thinking it could even be another northward extension of G65E?

There's been several occasions where expressways planned to become 'G' level have been assigned an 'S' number initially.

I was browsing through Google Earth satellite imagery, and noticed a very long segment of G6 (Jingzang Expressway) has been widened to 2x4 lanes in Inner Mongolia. It turned out to be a 215 kilometer segment that was widened from 2x2 to 2x4 lanes in just 2 years!

Any legitimate source and date referring to opening of the blue and red sections? They're not shown on qq Maps or Google Maps, photo is from Baidu Maps. Location in Tonghua, Baishan, and Meihekou in Jilin Province

I'm not sure if G11 opened to traffic. There is a satellite image north of Baisan dated 13 October 2015 that shows it under construction, but more than one month from completion (some bridges were not completed)

G1112 imagery is mainly from the first half of 2014 (hence, over 1.5 years old) and shows earthworks and some first stage construction of bridges. It could be opened soon I guess.

I found another massive widening project, a 535 kilometer segment of G30 has been widened from 2x2 to 2x4 lanes across most of Henan, from Shangqiu to the Shaanxi border. Most of it has been widened between 2011 and 2015, only the Zhengzhou segment is older (around 2008). It's quite incredible what they manage to do in China. In Europe such a widening project would take two decades or more.

And the 2x4 section continues all the way to Baoji!!! So add another 300 kilometers to that. Anyway, nothing beats G4, which is/will be 2x4 from Beijing/Hebei border all the way to the Henan/Hubei border (I've just found it being widened from Xinyang, G40 interchange, to the Hubei border, including a new alignment).

Baidu Ditu is doing like Google Maps some years ago, they are marking unopened sections as finished.

It may be the world's longest eight-lane expressway. Interestingly, some segments seem to have separate truck lanes with road markings dividing it in to 2+2+2+2, while some other segments have been widened with one new four-lane carriageway, giving a layout of 4+2+2 lanes.

Zhunxing Heavy Haul Expressway

The Inner Mongolia Zhunxing Heavy Haul Expressway is a core development project under the "11th Five-year Plan" of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and “China’s Western Development”. The 265 km-long expressway extends towards northeast from Jungar Banner, a major coal production area of the Ordos in Inner Mongolia to Xinghe County, a major logistics hub for coal distribution in Northern China connecting with the Beijing-Tibet Expressway.

With roadbed width of 27.75 meters, this project is designed to sustain 100-ton trucks. It has 3 eastbound lanes mainly for heavy-haul trucks and 2 westbound lanes mainly for light-haul vehicles. The estimated annual traffic capacity of the expressway is about 150 million tons, making it an essential channel to transport coal from western region of Inner Mongolia to the eastern region. The opening of the expressway is strategically important to energy resources logistics in Northern China, as it connects the coal production area with the distribution centre in the shortest, most convenient and economical way.

It opened on 21 November 2013. Quite a unique project

Isn't it less trouble using a rail line instead?
