July 2017 imagery also shows no construction on the Zhejiang section between Tonglu and Jinhua. Though G60 between Hangzhou and Jinhua has been expanded to eight lanes recently.

G22 Qinglan Expressway

They modernized a 54 kilometer section of G22 in eastern Shanxi, between the Hebei border and Changzhi. They built a 20 kilometer new three-lane carriageway for northbound traffic from Lucheng to Licheng.

G22 was originally built in the early 2000s with antiquated design standards. The modernized G22 reopened on 28 November 2017.

Every year in Nov, Dec and maybe Jan, there is a flood of new expressways in China open to traffic, and it is no exception in this year.

The HuaJiu Expressway (青海花石峡至久治高速公路 Huashixia town to Jiuzhi county) in Qinghai province opens to traffic in Nov 13. It is 389km long. It is probably highest expressway in the world. The average elevation is over 4000 meters and there is world highest expressway tunnel Xueshan #1 Tunnel. Its elevation is over 4400 meters in average and 9065 meters long for dual tubes

Where are both places on the map? Everything that I find are two small villages.

That project was discussed last month:

Unfortunately I could not find a photo of that section. Satellite imagery in that area is very spotty, but I could find the general alignment:

It is part of G0615: Delingha - Ma'erkang Expressway.

It is in the eastern third of the Tibet plateau and is the second large Expressway built up there after one opened from Lhasa 400km east to Nyingchi in October. So Tibet goes from 0km to 700+km in 2 months.

NW point is called Huashixiazhen on Google maps where it meets the G214 I assume. It runs from there in the general direction of Chengdu or Ya'an which it may reach after an extension in future.

This may even be part of the Chengdu Lhasa Expressway that is planned. We discussed a high bridge at its eastern end, now under construction, last month.

I don't think it is a part of the Chengdu - Lhasa Expressway, which is considerably farther south (along the G318 corridor), about 400 kilometers south of Jiuzhi.

It is more like Chengdu - Golmud, or at least Chengdu - G6.

Chengdu-Maerkang will be brutal terrain. Mountains not the high Tibetan plateau.

G5012 Enguang Expressway

The Chongqing section of G5012 from Wanzhou to the Hubei border is almost completed and will open by the end of the year.

G5012 forms the Enshi - Guangyuan Expressway, also known as the Enguang Expressway. Not on the photos is a new suspension bridge across the Yangtze east of Wanzhou.

1. The G42 / G5012 interchange near Wanzhou.

2. in eastern Chongqing.

3. A bridge in eastern Wanzhou.

The new Yangtze Bridge at Wanzhou is seen at the end of this video.

Guangdong

This article lists 6 expressways that will open to traffic on 28 December: http://news.sina.com.cn/c/2017-12-20...n2573468.shtml

云湛一期、揭惠一期、仁新一期、广中江二期、潮漳、龙连

云湛: Yunfu - Zhanjiang. I think this is part of the Shanzhan Expressway (Shantou - Zhanjiang Expressway, S14). This is the only section of which the article provides more detail, it appears that 133 km of this expressway will open between Yangchun and Huazhou (101 km) and a branch route to the port of Maoming (32 km).

揭惠: Jieyang - Huilai, or Jiehui Expressway (S13). It is a 72 km north-south expressway in eastern Guangdong.

仁新: Renhua - Xinfeng. I think this refers to G4E Wushen (Wuhan - Shenzhen) Expressway. It appears that the northernmost 53 km from the Hunan border near Renhua to G6011 south of Renhua will open.

广中江: Guangzhong River Expressway (S20). This is a new expressway, previously numbered S6, that runs from G15 west of Jiangmen to Nansha, a southern district of Guangzhou. I think only the westernmost section from G15 to Hetangzhen will open, Google Earth shows the eastern portion less advanced in April 2017.

潮漳: Chaozhou - Zhangzhou. This is part of G15W3 Yongguan (Ningbo - Dongguan) Expressway. It is the 65 kilometer section from the Fujian border to Chaozhou I posted about earlier.

龙连: Longchuan - Lianping: I think this is the G78 Shankun (Shantou - Kunming) Expressway. Earlier reports indicated that a 128 km section from Longchuan to Wengyuan would open in late 2017, but this report says only the eastern half of that will open from Longchuan to Lianping.

I read 广中江 as Guangzhou-Zhongshan-Jiangmen. There is no Guangzhong river anywhere.
