Nice developments for Jaipur but since Jaipur is so historic wouldn't some of these modern projects spoil or ruin the pink city's hertiage?

Are new projects banned from the city hertiage areas like other cities so to preserve the hertiage?

Royal Orchid opens 4-star hotel in Jaipur


Royal Orchid Hotels Ltd on Thursday launched its first four-star deluxe property in Jaipur — Royal Orchid Central. Located in the heart of the city, the 70-room hotel provides world-class amenities and services for the business class travellers.

Mr Chander Baljee, Chairman and Managing Director, Royal Orchid Hotels, said, "The launch of the property seeks to address a critical market gap that exists in Jaipur, one which provides all the conveniences that appeal to the palette of the global corporate citizen at an affordable cost."

The hotel has been taken on lease for almost 20 years from Mehak Paradise, Jaipur. The launch is a part of the group's expansion plan to set up 40 hotels across the country, including 15 five-star and four-star properties by early 2010, he said.

Royal Orchid Hotels, the largest hotel chain in Karnataka, has seven properties across Bangalore, Mysore and Jaipur. Its presence across three different categories of hotels enables the group to target the top, middle and junior management of corporate clients.

Fishman Holdings, one of Israel's largest private investment groups, has plans to invest $2 billion in a project in Jaipur, Rajasthan. On the cards is a 40,00,000 sq. metre township which will include commercial space, high-tech space, offices and residential complexes.
Mondon Investments, the real estate firm's subsidiary, has bought a 600-acre plot in the city for $108 million and is likely buy more land.
Mondon is involved in several other development projects in India that include commercial and residential projects in Ludhiana, Punjab; Thane, Maharashtra; Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh; and Delhi. l

Vatika group is building a township called Vatika Infotech City on Ajmer road in West Jaipur. The plan includes building a city centre and residential midrises. All the buildings are designed by Studio U+A architects

Vatika City Centre:

The 30 acre Central Commercial District with 3.5 million sqft of retail, office and entertainment spaces is the primary gateway experience to Vatika Infotech City. Inspired by the Old City of Jaipur, yet realized in a contemporary District is an arcaded, shaded, landscaped pedestrian-oriented environment. A 100-meter tall signature office tower announces the presence of the Commercial District and guides the visitor from the National Highway 8 to the central boulevard. The heart of the Commercial District is the Grand Pedestrian Court with generous arcade along with three of its faces. To its north is the fabric-roofed Bazaar with shops & food outlets at ground level and offices above.

Dec 26: Panoramic to build township in Jaipur, to invest over Rs 3k cr

MUMBAI: Hospitality firm Panoramic Universal plans to build a 159-acre township project at Jaipur with an estimated outlay of over Rs 3,000 crore.

The company is negotiating with a local trader in Jaipur to buy the land, which is expected to come through by the end of February next year, Panoramic Universal's Chairman Sudhir Moravekar said here.

Following the land acquisition, the company would start developing the township in phases and complete the project in the next five years.

"We have plans to put up residential, commercial, hotel and hospitality projects over there. The total investment in the project will be over Rs 3,000 crore," Moravekar said.

Dec 4: Parsvnath signs MoU for Jaipur SEZ

Parsvnath SEZ, a subsidiary of Parsvnath Developers, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Government of Rajasthan to develop 112 acre SEZ in Jaipur.

According to a release issued by Parsvnath to the BSE today, the SEZ envisage an investment of Rs 1,400 crore, and will focus on the gems and jewellery industry.

S N Sharma, director, Parsvnath SEZ, said: "This is a very significant MoU for us as this will help us in hastening the process of our commercial activity in Rajasthan. We have already identified the location for the SEZ, which will be on the outskirts of Jaipur. Once complete, the project is expected to generate employment for more than 60,000 people."

Dec1: Jaipur to be ICICI’s northern hub

JAIPUR: For ICICI Bank chief K.V. Kamath it was a special day at the partnership summit, “Resurgent Rajasthan” here on Friday. Adjudged as Forbes Asia Businessman of the year 2007 a day before in Hong Kong by Forbes, he was given a standing ovation at the opening session. Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, who congratulated him for the achievement, also expressed happiness over the timing of the good tidings.

“We have decided to locate the northern hub of ICICI at Jaipur. This will be a hub with 2,000 persons and an initial investment of Rs.500 crore. At the initial stage itself there will be 1,000 persons at this hub,” said Mr. Kamath, who appreciated the transformation of Jaipur into a city of well-groomed looks.

Nov30: Mahindra ropes in Deutsche Bank for Jaipur economic zone

Mahindra and Mahindra's $3-billion special economic zone coming up near Jaipur has roped in Deutsche Bank for a 200,000 sq ft offshore facility, a top official of the company said here Friday.

"Deutsche Bank is setting up their 200,000 sq ft facility at our special economic zone. They will start their operations by June 1 next year," Arun Nanda, executive director of Mahindra and Mahindra, said.

For the multi-product Jaipur economic zone, called the Mahindra World City, the company has already roped in Infosys Technologies and Wipro, besides its own arm Tech Mahindra, to set up their facilities.

"Infosys is setting up a unit spread over 200 acres, Wipro in 100 acres and Tech Mahindra over 15 acres," Nanda said.

BSNL launches internet with WLL in Jaipur

Government-run BSNL on Monday launched a high speed (384 kbps) internet with WLL service by upgrading its CDMA (code division multiple access) for a monthly rate of Rs 550 for the customers of the city.

The facility, with an activation charge of Rs 500, EVDO (evolution data only) card for Rs 6,500 and monthly rent of Rs 550, would be available on first-come first-served basis, Mohanlal Gumbhar, General Manager, Rajasthan Circle, told a press conference after the launch.

For implementation of this service, BSNL used CDMA 2000 1x EVDO technology, which is the first stage of 3G technology evolution, he said.

The data service on this will provide internet surfing up to 144 kbps whereas on EVDO, one can have a speed from 400 to 700 kbps, he said.

The computer users could make use of these services on laptop and desktop within 2 km radius of the BTS (base transmitting stations), he said.

Mar14: Data Infosys to make Jaipur wi-fi-enabled

Rajasthan-based Data Infosys Ltd, one of India's pioneer & leading IT companies, is set to transform Jaipur into a wi-fi city.

The company, in terms of a memorandum of understanding signed with the Rajasthan government, is planning to have hotspots in several parts of Jaipur under the wi-fi City project. "The first wi-fi spot has been launched at the Sindhi Camp Bus Stand and very soon almost all tourist spots of Jaipur will be wi-fi enabled," said Ajay Kumar Data, CEO, Data Infosys.

“We hope to turn Jaipur into a wi-fi city in a year,” he added.

Six screen multiplex to come up in Jaipur

Apart from PVR’s 5-screen multiplex coming up at World Trade Park in Jaipur by 2008-end, the Delhi-based realty firm, Suncity Projects, promoted by the Essel Group, Action Group and Odeon Builders, are coming up with a big project: “Jewel of India” in Jaipur, comprising a shopping mall, a five-star hotel with 250 rooms, an office complex, and a six-screen multiplex by Fun Republic to meet the entertainment needs, all in one building to be constructed over 20-acre land having 4 million sq ft of developed area.

By 2008-end or early 2009, Jaipur will be having several multiplexes with as many as 81 screens, as compared to 10 multiplexes with 22 screens at present.

Mahindra's Jaipur SEZ to become partly operational from July

MUMBAI: The Special Economic Zone being developed by Mahindras at Jaipur will become partly operational in July with first group of clients moving in, a top official said on Friday.

Mahindra Lifespace Developers, the real estate and infrastructure development arm of the USD 6 billion Mahindra group, has also started buying land at Karla, near Pune, for an SEZ project, Arun Nanda, vice-chairman of the company told reporters while releasing financial results here today.

City to get 4 bridges with escalators

JAIPUR: In an ambitious move, the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) has drawn plans for constructing four footover bridges along the Tonk Road that will be fitted with escalators. According to JDA, this is the first of its kind bridges in the city.

The first foot over bridge will be built near the existing overbridge on the Tonk Road close to the Central Academy at Ambedkar Nagar. The second one will come up at the Narayan Singh Circle, the third would be an extension of the second beginning perpendicularly from it and crossing the Govind Marg in an L-shape. The fourth will be near the Sawai Man Singh (SMS) hospital.

According to officials of JDA, the footover bridges will be built on a BoT basis and work that has begun at the Narayan Singh circle is being done by M/s NS Publicity Agency.

Such foot overbridges which have escalators, instead of the ordinary stairs, are very rare in the country, they added.

"The agency building the footover bridges will be responsible for running them free of cost. They will transfer the overbridges to the government after 15 years," the source added.

Jaipur to get two export exhibition centres soon

Jaipur: In a bid to boost exports in the garments and jewellery sector, the government has decided to build two export promotion centres along the lines of the India Expo Centre at Greater Noida.
The centres, that are being termed export exhibition centres, will be situated at Vatika near Jagatpura and at Chaksu on the Ajmer road about 20 kms from here. The Vatika centre is being build on a 25-acre plot of land by the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) while the one at Chaksu will be developed by Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation Limited (RIICO) on a 100-acre plot.
According to sources in the state urban development department, the expression of interest (EoI) have been called for after which the technical and financial tenders will be done.
“The garments and the jewellery industry here are famous across the world. There is a lot of demand for these products. However, both the sectors have failed to get its due share as exporters so long did not have a proper place to exhibit their products,’’ said sources at the state urban development department.
“Most exporters in these two sectors had to depend on exhibition held at Delhi and other places to showcase their product. And it is not always practically prossible for one to pack all his products and keep doing the rounds of various states hunting for exhibitions that would help get a suitable market abroad. It is to fulfill this lacunae that the centres are being built,” he added.
The source said that these centres will have showrooms where dealers of jewellery and the garment sector can set up a permanent shop. Besides, there would also be a large open space at the centre where export exhibitions may be hosted.
“Any buyer, bulk or otherwise, will now have a permanent address at Jaipur to drive down to if he is looking to buy such wares. The centre will not only offer him a wide vaiety to choose from but would also help him compare prices under one roof,” the source said.
