#PROJECT: FOUR SEASONS HOTEL

Four Seasons signs up for Abu Dhabi property

http://www.gulf-news.com/Articles/Bu...ticleID=172268

Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, the Toronto headquartered luxury hospitality chain, has reached an agreement with a developer for a 300-room hotel in Abu Dhabi, a senior company representative said.

Andrew Humphries, Four Seasons regional vice-president, told Gulf News: "We have recently signed up with an Abu Dhabi-based developer for a 300-room hotel in Abu Dhabi, our second hotel in the UAE. We expect the hotel to open in 2008."

Its first property, the 250-room Four Seasons Dubai Festival City Hotel, is currently under design and development and will be located on the banks of Dubai Creek.

"The development of the Four Seasons hotel in Dubai is also progressing well.

"Our development partner, Al Futtaim Group, is working on the hotel, which will be open for business in 2007," Humphries said.

Four Seasons operates five hotels in the Middle East three in Egypt and one each in Riyadh and Amman.

The hotel chain is strengthening its Middle East operations by more than doubling the number of hotels to 13 in the next three years.

In September it will open its first hotel in Damascus, Syria. It has also set up a dedicated sales and marketing office in Dubai to handle bookings and sales in the region.

The hotel chain has eight hotels under development in Doha, Dubai, Damascus, Alexandria, Beirut, Marrakesh, Kuwait and Abu Dhabi.

The new hotels in the region will increase the number of the chain's rooms from 1,509 to 1,800 by 2006.

Globally, the chain plans to increase the number of its hotels from 65 to 85 by 2007, and to 100 by 2010.

Founded in 1960, Four Seasons has followed a targeted course of expansion, opening hotels in major city centres and desirable resort destinations around the world.

Currently with 65 hotels in 29 countries, and more than 20 properties under development, Four Seasons will continue to lead luxury hospitality with enhancements, making business travel easier and leisure travel more rewarding.

Saudi billionaire Prince Al Waleed Bin Talal's Kingdom Holdings Group holds a 23 per cent stake in Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts.

Prince Al Waleed has played a key role in expanding the chain in the region. Its Amman property is partly owned by him.

The byline is undated but Four Seasons Doha opened in 2004.

En verdad excelente, nunca pensé que la capital de los Emiratos Árabes Unidos fuera casi igual de competitiva que Dubai.
