Yeah weather is an east-west issue, not north-south; or at least not over the 300km between Leeds and London. In global weather terms, its nothing.

I was up at that site on Scott Hall Road the other day filming. Hopefully the arena will bring some animation to that facade of the skyline.

definitely, from that angle you'll be able to see the front of the building lit up in all it's neon glory!

Leeds is generally middling, but is on the right side of the Pennines so benefits from a good proportion of cleas skies. It's not that much better weather in 'the south' in general from my experience, just an average degree or two difference which is neither here nor there in my view.
This is so true. Drove from Sheffield to Manchester yesterday. As soon as I hit Derwent Valley and the higher peaks of the Pennines it became cloudy due to the south west cloud hitting the Pennines which is a 'barrier' so to speak. It explains why Manchester, Lancashire and Cumbria gets so much rain.

Good shots ps60.

Some of that scaffolding at the front of the Arena looks a bit unstable don't you think?

also what is that yellow stuff i can see just behind the scaffolding to the back, is it netting or something?

i thought it might be insulation which goes with the theory that we're going to see the external cladding going on in that corner very very soon

I don't see why the council building their arena necessarily stops her building hers?

If she thinks she can build an arena, and do it better than the council, what's stopping her?

I think there's a case to answer about how the council handled all the planning applications for the arena, it looks like the legal experts think so too.

It's not so much about the planning process and more to do with the procurement process the council went through. I suppose it depends how much information the council gave to potential bidders and whether any of that information was misleading.

What surprises me is the fact that it's perfectly normal for procurers to decide not to go with any of the bidders and to have a project delivered through a different route (in this case, the local authority developing the arena itself). It will be interesting to see the outcome.

Ditto. The self proclaimed No1 Businesswoman of Yorkshire has certainly had her chance but blew it with the complete inaction of City One at the former Peugeot / Citroen garage on Meadow Road (proposed since the early 1980s!) in addition to the fact her wealth (car showrooms and a fish and chip restaurant) has been inherited as opposed to created from scratch. Surely she must be losing a lot of previously high esteem in Leeds by the fact that she is suing Leeds City Council over the much needed Leeds Arena development and I guess it says a lot that Ken Bates of all people isn't suing the council over not siting the Leeds Arena by Elland Road whereas Jan Fletcher is suing the council over not siting the arena by her plaything of the City One site.

Can you imagine if the council had awarded the prefered development rights to her company ... would we have even had a planning application in by now?

Perhaps people should have a go at doing a few edit jobs on famous self-promotion tool Wikipedia:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jan_Fletcher

''She has successfully built up and run businesses in extraordinarily diverse sectors''
- Citation needed.

''During her four years at the helm, she completed tasks such as singing up 60 corporates to become Champions''
- How does one 'sing up' exactly? Best just leave that as it is.

Two references on the entire article as well, and what do you know, she has an honoury degree from Bradford University. I despair.
