SOUTH AFRICA: "A Country Under Reconstruction" Series

South Africa is healing. From apartheid, from a bad reputation, from days of little development, from social problems, from health problems... South Africa is healing.

Please watch this space. You will see posts with information about developments, and with news about our country, posted exclusively by me, as I aim to create a perfect thread for you all to come to for such information.

The world seems so unfascinated with South Africa; so not in love with this place. I hope to reverse this- not for my own good- but for yours. I think you will all find something in our deeply diverse country.

I hope you all find something in this thread.

Sincerely,
SP!RE from the S. Africa forums

1... Our People

Development news will come intermittently, between each section I create. News will also be interspersed throughout this series.

This series will start tomorrow.

I was born in Joburg South Africa, and was back there about 8 months ago. The country has grown buy leaps and bounds over the last ten years yet still has such great potential. SA should be the model for all African countries to follow, especially sub-Saharan African countries. I뭢 really looking forward to this series and thank you for taking to time to do so.

All the best,

I've gone off South Africa alot due to your Government's continued support for the Illegal Mugabe Regime.

I wish South Africa well, but don't expect Zimbabwean's around the world to be to happy for you.

I큩e never been to south Africa but I identify her so much with South America, a land with a great potential, enourmous resources, but forgotten by the rich countries in th north. A land in reconstruction with joyful people..
cheers from Peru!!

Yeah I've been to South Africa, you still see townships/favelas about, but so many new buildings especailly in the main cities. The capital city is covered in flowers and has a great reputation.
I don't like the South African sense of humour, but love the accent!

Wow, so much support! Well, I am typing the series up as we speak...

The series will be steady and going strong soon enough. And Botswana coudln't be a model country- its cities are expensive, its population is unrealistically small, it too has an AIDS problem, larger than our own, etc. etc.

About Zimbabwe- what a sad situation. It is hard for me each day as I spare a thought. I have tried to find ways to be involved in that struggle. I have many friends who have gone on Missions trips there taking supplies and computers and such to keep the poor in touch with people who can help them. I know some Zimbabweans, and they are obviously quite distressed as well. I am sorry to see such a proud and potentially successful country turn downward like that.

Not to compare- just a reminder

Well I hope you all come back when the series gets going!

^HirikataShi, could you post news threads like that seperately or in the South Africa forum. I don't mean to sound rude, but I wanted to do this thread as a series, and that has kind of changed how I wanted it to look. The series is on its way, and we LOVE having you in the South Africa forum, but that isn't what I had in mind for this thread. I'm sure you'd be allowed to create an SA news thread somewhere, though

Could a mode put those posts into their own thread please?
