First, the tower is 484m, not 490m. 490m is the height above sea level, 484m is the height of the building above ground. This should be true unless something has subtlely changed over the past two months which I didn't notice. And as I said earlier, the title of the thread should be changed as well.

Second, the figure 484m is from the ground to the glass blades. 490m is from sea level to the glass blades.
And Dubaiflo, the glass blades are the roof feature, and I don't think it would look very good with a spire, it would be cheating with a spire and would lose respect.

thankyou jpq21

but i wonder what the height is to the actual roof, that being the true height of the structure in my opinion. by the roof i mean the inner area below the glass bladed sides.

wow, either the renderings have changed.. or its been a while since ive been "stalking" around on the forums.. cause it looks even better than i remember! very nice looking building, and yes it is a shame it is just short of the 500m mark and shorter than SWFC.

I think it's 9 or 10 lanes on either side. Definitely the widest road I've seen too.

It's a tunnel toll plaza. Typically highways in HK are only 2-3 lanes wide (per direction).

ha.. that's quite ironic... ><

there're currently 3 harbour-crossing tunnels connecting hong kong island with the rest of hong kong... but because this tunnel is far more expensive compared to the other two... so it's seriously under-utilized while the central harbour tunnel is congested almost all day long.

Their probably looking for more usage once this whole project is complete. They should lower the price of this and raise the price of the Cross Harbor Tunnel.
