A new planning application went in recently too. Looks like this could be a goer.

This end of the street has looked very sad for a long time, so with all this welcome news, next year should see a lot more activity! It will also potentially create an increase in footfall around The Metquarter!

New Roomzzz sites in Liverpool and Chester confirmed
The success of Roomzzz keeps on coming as the brand is hailed a hotel industry phenomenon After a phenomenal year of trading, Yorkshire brand Roomzzz Aparthotel has bucked every industry trend, shaken the norm and carved out a fresh set of rules for themselves. They have confirmed further Northern domination with new sites in Liverpool and Chester as new City central key locations for early 2013. Roomzzz have consistently rolled out great news stories this year including opening a £6M site in Newcastle and extending their Manchester City location. When asked what makes Roomzzz a success, Head of Roomzzz Aparthotel UK Mark Walton replies simply 'consistency, service and location.' This from an operator who has introduced the Roomzzz concept to the UK 6 years ago and has seen occupancy levels soar to a consistent 87% across 5 sites and who is happy to reveal in 2012 the brand is running 16% up on 2011. Mark Walton comments 'the Roomzzz brand is making unashamed progress in the industry, we're keeping our heads in terms of offering and giving our customers exactly what they come to us for which is impeccable hospitality in key locations for a price that makes sense whatever your reasons are for travelling.'To illustrate this Newcastle City - the brand's latest opening hit the number 1 spot on Trip Advisor for hotels in Newcastle in under 4 weeks. The dynamic surge of the Roomzzz brand is part due to their successful franchise strategy which sees investors drawn to involvement into a brand which is seeing fast track growth year on year over the past 6 years and one which has gathered a head of undeniable steam and kudos with the opening of phase one in Newcastle in November with phase two starting before the end of the year. The news that prominent Liverpool and Chester locations will come under the Roomzzz brand name in 2013 take the brand up to 7 Northern locations and two more openings in Southern locations details of which will be announced in 2013. Walton comments 'New guests and regular guests of Roomzzz are feeding back to us of their delight to experience a Roomzzz Aparthotel in multiple cities – our real time loyalty scheme is playing a huge part in rewarding guests and we're seeing huge peaks in repeat visits across all sites as a result. It's an exciting and profitable time for us and we are focused on making our mark in innovation and more new openings over the next 12 months.'

Good news. I wonder if these guys are taking a site we alerady know about e.g. Parker Street, or if this is new, additional investment. Tune Hotels were scheduled to take that one, so hopefully they haven't sold it on.

Liverpool hotel among top UK luxury hotels
A Liverpool hotel has been named as one of the UK’s top luxury hotels. The city's Hard Days Night Hotel received the accolade in LateRooms.com's "Simply The Guest" Awards. The hotel was chosen from 70,000 hotels, B&Bs, cottages and apartments following a hunt by the team at the national accommodation website. It identified the properties that scored the highest in the all-important customer feedback reviews throughout 2012. General Manager of Hard Days Night Hotel Mike Dewey said: “We are delighted to have been named one of the top luxury hotels in the UK and it means a great deal that these awards are voted for by the public. “The feedback that we get from our customers is invaluable and helps us to grow and develop our overall offering. We’d like to say a big thank you to everyone that contributed to these awards.” The "Simply The Guest" Awards are the first of their kind from LateRooms.com and recognise properties all over the UK. Jessica Reading, Director of Marketing & User Experience for LateRooms.com, said: “We know that when booking a short break all of our customers have different needs, be it a hotel next to a fantastic beach, or a romantic retreat deep in the countryside. “With the Simply the Guest Awards we hope we will inspire some amazing short breaks for 2013, recognise the valuable feedback which our customers provide our properties, and at the same time, showcase our top rated hotels.” The reviews that were used to identify the award winners scored hotels on their service, cleanliness, location and general guest experience. LateRooms.com guests were only given the opportunity to review a property once their stay is complete ensuring each and every review is genuine. Do you know which building this will be housed in? Is this the building on Hardman Street/Trade Union & Unemployed Centre/School for the Blind?

This article refers to the former, Print Hotel, Stanley Street rather than the hotel to be opened in the vacated Merseytravel offices, Hatton Garden. So that's more good news.

Aye, both the old Print hotel and the old Wade Smith are getting tarted up and should be open by Spring. The ground floor of both will have cafe / bar style activities so there will be life at street level again.

Was over that way today. Still seems quite depressing - in spite of the little coterie of new businesses over the road from this project. It does not help that the building next door is hideous.

Some details from the Municipal Annexe on Dale Street- which is still on schedule for opening in August. ( Doubletree by Hilton). I was told today that the grand marble fireplace ( £30K's worth) has been stolen - most likely by contractors affiliated to Illiad:
