Some decent cladding there, thanks for the pics.
I do hope this scheme doesn't suffer from cost-cutting exercises. |

Passed the site of Latitude Green, Blue or whatever it is going to be called, and there was a lot of work going on with machinery etc. New hoardings are also being erected around the site. Which building is this going to be? How many floors?

Which site is this? The other one on Whitehall Road or one of the ones set back from the road?
All the office blocks are the same height I think. Anyone got an update of what happened with regards the changing design of the towers? |

I found this:-
Leeds, 13th February 2008 – With the Leeds office market set for a limited supply of new office space this year, the topping - out ceremony on 6 February of Latitude Red, a 121,944 sq ft speculative development, and one of only three prime office buildings to be completed in central Leeds this year, marked a significant milestone. Due for completion in autumn, Latitude Red is located on the former 10-acre Monk Bridge works site off Whitehall Road, and will offer large open plan floor plates of over 15,000 sq ft together with 92 secure basement car spaces. The building, which is being marketed by joint agents Jones Lang LaSalle and Hill Woolhouse, will set a new standard for office space in the city with its high environmental standards and a BREEAM Excellent rating. Nik Dockree, from developer, HBG Properties said: “Witnessing the final pour of concrete being made marks a major stage in the development of Latitude Red and the pace of change in the new West End of Leeds. Its high quality design, combined with excellent setting, only five minutes from Leeds city centre makes Latitude Red an eye-catching business location.” Stephen Bradley of IVG, owners of Latitude Red, commented: “Latitude offers the best option in Leeds in 2008 for businesses looking for a prestige location and an employee friendly environment. Our agents are reporting high levels of occupier interest and we look forward to converting a number of these into tenants shortly.” Jeff Pearey, from joint agents, Jones Lang LaSalle, added: “With an extremely tight supply of new buildings due to complete in Leeds this year we are confident that the building will appeal to a wide range of occupiers. The fact it is rated as environmentally ‘BREEAM’ Excellent is an added attraction.” Joint agent, Michael Leonard from Hill Woolhouse, concluded: “We have seen a surge in enquiries since the building framework has become part of the Leeds skyline. The large floorplates and stunning aspect will, no doubt, encourage even more interest in the finished product.” Following completion of Latitude Red, HBG Properties will commence with the second phase, Latitude Blue. Larger strategic requirements can also be accommodated in later phases. Last edited by tigerman; February 20th, 2008 at 02:42 PM. |

Isn't it the other site fronting onto Whitehall Road surely as there already appears to have been clearance for this development and surely it would look a lot better to have the more visible frontage on Whitehall Road completed first prior to work taking place on the rest of this site. Are any of these offices at Latitude let to tenants yet? I have noticed they have started putting glass glazing onto Latitude Red though (and from what is there so far does look good).

So Latitude Blue is next. Anyone know any details of this building. Number of floors etc? This must have started construction if the activity on site was anything to go by earlier this week.

The planning application says 5 office buildings - the 2 adjacent to the canal are 8 storeys (one of these being the building u/c) the building at the west end is 6 storeys, the one facing onto Whitehall Road is 10 storeys and the other one is 12 storeys - although that was just outline planning for the other buildings.
I dont think anyone could tell you which of these is 'Blue' as I dont think we have seen a plan of the site. I also assumed that 'Blue' would not start until 'Red' was completed which could be another 6 months. Could the activity on site be drainage/roadworks/car parking etc for 'Red'? |

I don't think that work has started on the next phase. There's renewed activity across the river at Wellington Place and there's a crew doing something at the water's edge. Thinking back, I believe that part of this development will include some canalside moorings and I'm assuming that this is that work taking place. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I hope they clean the river up for the moorings! Look at all that litter!

It looks as though the work along the canal bank has finished. The glazing is now up to the fourth storey which will please all those companies wanting to relocate their offices. The Yorkshire Post has had long articles for two weeks on the trot about the dearth of new office space coming onto the market in Leeds.

That work on the Canal bank doesn't look particularly complete looking at those pictures. I presume it has been completed since you took the pics? Are they creating a new public footpath along the south bank of the Leeds Liverpool Canal underneath the railway viaduct towards that former railway building occupied by Majestic Wine Warehouse as surely in the long run to regenerate the riverside up to Kirkstall public access throughout would be needed on both sides of the Aire / Leeds Liverpool Canal.

It would be nice if they eventually gave the bridge (at least) over the canal a bit of a clean.

Hopefully, if they ever got these tram trains sorted out to Harrogate, this viaduct would be used to link the city centre roads up to and round the old roundhouse and onto the existing railway trakcs on Armley Road. It would be great to see that viaduct in use again.
