OK, this is one of the *few* joys of not living in Chicago. Happy surprise at progress. I had no idea that Momo/Joffrey had really *started* until I saw these pictures. Yes, I had read a few threads, but *seeing* is believing.

BVic.. Where did you take that picture from above? The parking garage immediately to the east? I'm surprised at how spacious the lot looks.. When it was still Walgreens, I recall it looking rather diminutive. But no other building aside from the Walgreens was torn down to make way for this, correct?

A residential high-rise being built from the ground-up inside the true loop. A new milestone in the boom...

C-Lover,

The only demolition was of the Walgreens. I too was surprised at the actual size of the lot, but I think more in a "what a fricking waste of space that Walgreens was" sort of way.

You should know that the Chicago forumers here take BVictor's words religiously. His scoops are like the Bible to us.

The construction crane was being installed on the site this afternoon probably about 100-150' high. Didn't have my camera with me though.

Images of the Crane at MoMo

I took a couple of images of the crane which went up yesterday and today at the MoMo site.

First, a shot taken from the street this evening:

and a couple of shots from my living room:

Wow, MoMo's coming along nicely. If there was one thing in the Loop I absolutely HATED, it was that crappy little Walgreens with the Desmonds sign on top of it. To think they tore down the Masonic Temple, an architectural gem, for that was horrifying.

This is a much-needed project, IMO.

BTW, if anyone's in the area, would they mind taking a pic of the MF clock with the chef's hat on it? I could use a nice, large pic of that.
