I stopped by the site yesterday and talked to one of the construction guys. He told me that the building was going to be built with structural steel for the first 10 floors with a transition floor and then reinforced concreate the rest of the way up. Can anyone think of another building that has utilized this dual structural format?

Some recent pics (4/28):

I thought this was interesting: an obvious diamond-tiled pattern. I wonder if this was the floor of the Walgreens...

I think they're officially calling it "Modern Momentum at Joffrey Tower." BTW - I sign my contract for a one bedroom in MoMo tomorrow morning )

a link to a portion of one of the trusses that runs across the opening in the middle of the building. It stands about 20ft tall and the top and bottom chords of the truss weigh around 450 lbs a foot. Pretty impressive stuff. http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/inde...c-dc3d6edae316

Okay, so, does anyone know wtf is going on with the base of MoMo? All the renderings we were ever shown displayed a base that was parallel with the lot-line, yet, now that they're about done with the steel, it looks as if a large portion of the base is set back 20 feet from the sidewalk while just the southwestern portion reaches all the way to the property-line. I think this is going to upset the simplicity of the ground-level experience and I'm none too pleased about it. Does anyone have any idea what's going on?

Seriously? Nobody has a clue why the've given the base of the building the chop-shop treatment on the NW corner?

I certainly hope so. I just haven't even seen any connection plates on the steel that's adjacent to the missing section.
