It's still not bland. And it matters not whether you think it looks like a stadium or not. I mean so what? Infact it's very slick and credit should got to architects for having the balls to design something that's so different. I love it. Especially when the area around the stadum is under snow. . . (the stadium then does really look like a picture)

and yes, as much as I like the interior, you'd have to biased to say wembley's exterior's anything but standard fare. But it doesn't matter. Football stadiums are all about the interior.

If those are proper screens, Wembley will beat Piccadilly Circus.

They were video screens when the first renders came about. I'd be very surprised if they're still there when it's completed.

I'm not a fan of the inside of Allianz. Looks boring, maybe it's the colour of the seating....although Newcastle haven shown grey seating doesn't always look boring.

However, I like the outside of Allianz, it's an amazing feat of architecture. That's not to say Wembleys exterior is bad, the use of screens allow Wembley businesses to possibly advertise on these screens-a bit like a revolving advertising hoard. Very clever indeed. But Allianz is very clever, I don't think I've seen anything like the outside before.

It'll take more than a fancy design and lighting show to beat a stadium that is steeped rich in tradition, and was once described as the 'church of football' by the one and only Péle. You won't get the ghosts of conflicts past, running through your viens at the Allianz Arena will you?? - Wembley however has nearly 100 years of history behind it. It's an unfair comparison but I like them both for very different reasons.

I'm certainly looking forward to the new Wembley. But how can you really compare 'em if one stadium isn't finished yet?
Wembley is much more expensive and bigger. It's like comparing a BMW 7 to a Bentley. I agree that it would make more sense to compare it to the Emirates Stadium. And don't forget that the Allianz Arena is completly owned and paid by both Bayern and 1860 Munich. So it's not a matter of prestige like Wembley. It's an affordable investment. I find it kind of strange that it's not used for club football. How does it pay off?

As for the Allianz Arena, I've seen it for myself when I watched Bayern against Dortmund in may. What I liked most is that everyting is focused on being as close to the pitch as it's allowed today by FIFA and that you have an excellent view from every seat in the stadium. There is nothing in the way. No roof, no bars.
The seats are really good and comfortable. And they look modern. The silvergray just fits. With Bayern (red) and 1860 (blue) that rules out two of the most popular colours for seats. So what's left? Green, yellow, black? No thanks!
And if the stadium is filled with people it's red or blue in the inside, too.

Some pictures...

A good link with more pictures:

Any new pictures of Wembley available?

It's not completely up to date but keep an eye on the official site:

Thanks, just what I was looking for. Couldn't find high res pics though.

The arch reminds of another, smaller one:

Is there another stadium with an arch?

It will be used for club football. In all there will be about as many games there as in a club stadium. And there cant be too many games there, anyway, as the number of events allowed is probably limited

erm, that's bollocks. Including league games, two cups, friendlies and European games, a big club with a 60000 stadium will use their stadium at least 30 times a season, even a small club like QPR used their stadium 29 times last season! Wembley will be not get even close to 30 games a season!

why is it our stadiums always choose that cheap red colour for the seats? I think that grey/ white would of made wembley look far smarter.

Yes ..smart like a white wall with grey boarders...... Red white and blue kinda fits with England and Great Britain (Rugby League)... I do however think you've got a point as with the quality of the seats, they do look rather comfortable and of high quality.
