The Windsor tower was pulled from planning because it was recommended for rejection, they want to talk to the council about the scheme.

I do remember being invited to the opening of a small art gallery in these warehouses in the late 1970`s - don`t know what happened to it.

Nevertheless this is good news and it`s about time these building were brought back into productive life, be it galleries, art house, shops or `Quiggins or similar` -

"We have the space Jim but not as you know it......."

(apologies to Trekies fans lol.)

The Windsor development's website is now up and running with some limited info on there, some of the pages are written in Latin..! So expect to see some juicy info on this site soon.

New renders on the Windsor 'teaser'

They aint kidding are they - the teaser website flashes the new renders and theyre gone - anyone know how to post them here?.

Looks like 3 buildings of up to 13 floors

This development has been approved by planning I presume given that they pulled down Lambs to build it ?

I wouldn't worry about all that "Latin". It's just the standard dummy text used to pad out documents etc when they're at the pre-publication stage - and it's not real Latin either.

Yes J.P.Lamb & Sons building is cleared, and the site is surrounded by L1 hoardings waiting for construction.

These images look quite a bit different from the one posted on Martin's Development Summary when this project was called Maritime Building. The cladding shown here is a big improvement from the one with red brick? the block facing the Strand seems to be a lot slimmer than the original render, I think it looks great!

Question Planning ?

My earlier post was too vague and poorly punctuated.

What I meant to ask is whether planning has been granted for this site. Wasn't there some talk of planning being granted with significant restrictions or was that another site ?

I know Lambs has been cleared but I wondered if that was in anticipation of receiving planning permission. A brave move given the recent rejections.

sorry for all the confusion.

The building's shown above in M.O.s pictures have been approved, also the warehouse building behind this one on Cornhill has new steelwork going up behind it, along with Mariners wharf which looks almost complete (steel shell wise), and Chandlers wharf which is nearly complete (next to Baltic pub).

Forgotten whether this is Chandlers or Mariners Wharf. Taken yesterday, steelwork gone up fast.

I think buildings look impressive when at this stage with no cladding, would be good to see a modern building like this in the business centre clad in glass.

i think the baltic triangle would be perfect for quiggins, afterall some shops and bars restaurants will be essential in making this area actually come to life rather than being a secluded residential area like the south docks

Great pics folks
If the Baltic Fleet sell shares in their Wapping Microbrewery, I'm in there. What a location for a downtown pub!

I get the feeling that this area will become 'posey' in a few years, possibly a continuation of the Albert Dock type retail. Particularly as the teacher's night out took place in some posey bar just off Wapping. So I can't imagine Quiggens.

Of course, the Baltic Fleet will always remain standing, even after the next world war.

Posey bars are annoying. Just full of Jennifer 'Do you know who I am?' Ellison wannabees searching for footballers. Visitors and tourists should leave before sunset.

Agree with Gareth that there will be no place for the Quiggins vibe down there. More baby blue bars etc charging £30 for a bottle of Chateau Neuf du Pape. Still, at least the area will be re-generated even if it's not my cup of tea. Sorry, mocca with biscotti for a fiver.

Apparently a glass of wine at the Albert Dock costs something in the range of LPL$5! About a day's wage in a Chinese lingerie factory.

That's quite funny. Especially since the chinese government recomended Liverpool to it's people as one of the best British city's to visit.

Albert dock is a bit of a rip off when it comes to drinks and food etc. It doesn't offer any particuilarly special drinks or food but charges the earth. The bars there have a jumped up opinion of themselves. Est Est Est has a very basic italian menu and their wine list will not have Gillian Goulden messing her nickers.
