I presume they are cutting corner because they wouldn't pay an architect to design a decent set of towers, ie: more than one design repeated over and over. Because they wouldn't pay for this I'm sure they're trying to cut as many corners as possible to make construction cheaper so it'll probably look very ugly in a few years.

As impressive as the construction photos are, I think this is a really bad project that'll spoil the beauty of the marina. The JBR is huge but definitely not in a good way as it's just a set of commie blocks. Even the marina diamonds are better looking than this as even though there are 6 of them, they have different colours and slightly different designs.

I like most of the projects in Dubai because they're usually not only the biggest but also the best (ie: burj dubai, original palm, DIFC, dubai waterfront, etc...). This one is certainly big but qualitywise, it gets a 0 from me. Same goes for palm Deira.

Am i the only one who thinks they should of atleast not designed everysingle tower(except for the 2 in the middle) to look alike? It looks boring and unflattering, especially compared to all the other projects happening in dubai.

I take it you haven't read my post above if you say you're the only one.

BTW, the 2 in the middle aren't part of the same development.

that is why most of the people don't like this project , except for its sheer scale.
nevertheless i still hope they turn out quite ok in the end..

yes there is concern they might pull the quality of the marian down but given there is like 200 towers can afford to have 40 bad ones
from the ocean so wont really been seen that much as well

better with towers poking up behind
or best still zipping down SZR where you wont even see them

It will be OK but why settle for mediocracy (is that spelt right?) when it can and should have been better? I know that this is definitely not what Dubai's about. I agree that not every tower should be a masterpiece and that they'll probably just be "fillers" but they shouldn't all have the exact same design.
When you look at some American cities you often have lots of dull, boxy skyscrapers that don't look particularly amazing. At least they don't all look the same though.

BTW seen from SZR, the marina will look far better don't you think?

I totally agree. The Marina Diamond 1 to 20 shine in the Dubai sun. :-)

I am a bit shocked with the JBR towers. I was told they would be classy and nice. This looks horrible! 20 years down the line this place will be a getto... cracks in concrete and all.

I also do not like they are hogging all the beachfront. Does anyone know where there is a public beach? I think it is rediculous to have to pay for something like a beach. There should be at least one public beach...

Maybe it won't look too bad with some proper landscaping and greenery.

jbr was originally launched as a low cost alternative to the marina, but when they saw how much money they could make from it they added loft apartments, dexlue, penthouses etc. then the price of cement rose around 2003 and the developers tried to offset this by cutting a few corners in other places, we'll have to wait till these towers are ready to see how it all turns out but i've been told a few years down the line jbr is going to have huge maintenance problems because of this cost cutting

I was wondering there seeing those renders and the massive shadows cast. Wouldn't it actually be better to live smack bang in the middle of the JBR?Would it be an advantage never to have the sun shining in your window so the heat becomes less of a problem?

ive been in some rooms in dubai that didn't face the sun (not sure why that sounds dodgy to me lol) a sunny room even here is better than one without

think so too. especially when there are 5 towers in front, left and right of your apt you would wish to see the sun once a day.
