what's daily American people's life ?

My teacher who is from LS once told me thay though US is the richest country , most people work hard only to feed themselves .And I found some teachers who came to China to teach English are jobless in their country . I don't mean ironizing them . How are your daily life ? Are you satisfied?

I gotta say that I'm satisfied with my life, I'm not wealthy ( I'm a college student), but after paying for school I do have extra money to go out and have a good time. I'm not sure who told you most people work hard to only eat, there are some, but I would say most people in America have a pretty good quality of life, by that I don't mean they are rich, but are able to enjoy themselves, if not they have the opprotunity to make their life better, if they simply work hard for it and have the motivation to.

The average American adult works at least 40 hours a week. Many immigrants (like my father) work much longer hours. Over all it does pay off. America is a place where one can achieve his or her goals in life.

There are some families here who struggle to maintain a minimal existence. But the overwhelming number of Americans live fairly comfortable lives. The vast majority own the trappings of what you might consider wealth--a car, if not two, have every electronic gizmo imaginable, own their own homes, have money for vacations, and so on.

And keep in mind, even the poor people in America have many of those things.

In the US, the federal government considers a family of four to live in poverty if their annual income is less than $18,000. That figure does not include the dollar amounts of federal assistance such as food stamps, housing vouchers, etc.

Of course, being poor is no picnic, and the middle-class is debt-ridden----on the downside.

American life is, on the whole, extremely comfortable except for the very lowest classes. Even a "bad" job is usually something relatively safe and easy, like flipping burgers at a fast food restaurant or doing light industrial work. Not many people do heavy physical labor anymore, and between wages and welfare most people live reasonably well. The middle-class is certainly not working just to feed themselves; there are very few people indeed at that level. And, perhaps most importantly of all, people who live in the lowest classes rarely stay there for very long. It's not that hard for a hardworking, responsible person to live in the middle-class.

Bear in mind the audience to which this question is posed. We who enjoy personal computers , internet access and leisurely posting on message boards will be happier with life than those who cannot afford the luxury of debating bourgeois things like “does Austin have more bar stools than Portland“.
For millions, life in America sucks and it wont be getting any better. For most of us, living on borrowed time and money has made it an extremely enjoyable place. Working conditions are good, highways and malls are pretty and debt only has to be repaid at some unspecified time in the future. Except for a few, we live beyond our means and fill any and all emotional voids with useless gadgets then on Sunday we administer religion like a feel-good magical elixir then eat some fattening fast food…but we really do feel happy!

With nearly 300 million people, the US offers a wide socioeconomic and demographic spectrum. For the large part, most people in the US are employed and have a relatively high standard of living. Of course, there are those near the bottom, but then again, wherever you go you will find that. Many people in the US jump back and forth between different income and economic levels throughout their lifetimes. There isn't as much of a social saftey net here, but then again you can climb as high as you want to with a lotta hard workd and sometimes a little luck. Noone is downright confined to a certain level in life... When I was born, my family was lower middle class, now my parents are solidly upper middle class and enjoy a very nice standard of living. I live on my own now, am college educated, and have a very good job, as do most all of my friends. But then again, its all a matter of who you ask.

If you have a criminal record its hard to get any kind of a desent paying job all you can get is something thats just enough to get a cheap apartment and scrape by because the labor market is not like it used to be when there was a labor shortage now the employers can have the cream of the crop

North Americans wake up, piss, take a shower, possibly eat, go to work, slack off, eat, piss, eat some more, come home, eat, piss, drink some beers, whack off and go to bed.

At least most of them...Fortuneatly I'm over those days.
MWhahaha.

There are many people here who live in poverty. Yet this is still a developed country, so those who live in poverty very rarely are homeless, or left without food, clean water, and even electricity. Depending on what part of the country you live, the job market can either be very good, or very bad.

I do not live in poverty, however I am still a member of the lower class. My job pays so low that I work two full time jobs and 80 hours a week to make ends meet. I do own a car, but it is not considered a luxury in the US to own a car, even for the poor. It is considered a necessity. That being said my 1988 Chevrolet Sprint cost me $200 cash.

^ Good lord, two full time jobs? I don't think I've ever met anyone who pulled that off, and I'm not exactly well-off myself.

This is my day.

-Wake up at 7am
- Go to work at 8am (luckily I'm male so it don't have to wake up 2-3 hours earlier to get beautiful like all the ladies in my office)
- While at work I mostly talk. With 5,000 people in my building no one seems to notice.
- Get off at 4:30 get home by 5.
- Usually stay home and do the same thing every weekday.

I used to never be home after work, but since I lost my license my after work activities have taken a sharp decline. Usually I'd go over to my friends house, play music, drink (Friday) or go Downtown and do whatever. Pretty average day for a 19 year old in the corporate world.

I get up, go to work at 8:15AM and get off anywhere from 4:30PM to 6:00PM, depending on how much work I have left to do (paperwork). I do this Monday through Friday. I'm off on weekends, and usually catch up on a little rest & relaxation, do various tasks around the house on the weekends, etc. We usually cook at home, but, go out to dinner somewhere several times a month. I'm happy with my life. I make a good living, and have a feeling of satisfaction. I take 3 weeks vacation a year...2 I travel and 1 I stay home. One thing I can tell people about the US that hasn't been here is that it is BIG. We have alot of land and there is a wide range in our terrain. And, a majority of us make a decent living. We do have poor people, and they are poor for a variety of reasons, but, we take care of them by providing them with food, shelter, and proper medical care (welfare and charity).
