SPLIT - Croatia's jewel on the Mediterranean

Split has two airports.

The main one is the Split International Airport in Resnik, near Trogir, on the west side of the bay.
It was built in 1966, and it handles some 1,200,000 passengers a year. Peak passenger traffic is in the summer months, when numerous charters expand the city network that Split has a connection to. Using this airport, you can fly to almost any larger European city.

Currently there is some expansion going on, regarding the apron.
There wasn't alot of parking space for the planes, so now they are working on it.
Also, in the near future, the terminal will be expanded by two thirds, adding four jetways to it's structure.

Flanking the south side of the runway is the Divulje Air Base.
It's used as a helicopter, as well as fighter-jet base.

A little bit to the north is the second (secret... Area 51 like ), underground part:


See the two tunnel entrances, leading into the mountain.
They have a direct connection to the Split Airport's runway 05.

Also, let's not forget the smaller Sinj Airport, some 20km to the north of Split.
It has a 900m long grass runway and it's for recreational use.

Split's antique city core is surrounded by four old neighbourhoods, filled mostly with stone houses, built several hundred years ago.
They are called Varoš, Dobri, Manuš and Lučac.
These real estates are going at very high prices these days. Some houses are being soled at a price as high as 5000€ per square meter.
