Picture Request Thread
I'm off into Bham for a major photo session either Saturday or Sunday. I'm gonna be capturing the usual suspects;HCT, Orion, Masshouse, Post and Mails demise etc. I'm also interested in having a look around the Gun Quarter after seeing Brum 2003's thread so I'll get a few shots from round there as well. Is there anywhere or anything else I should definitely be pointing my camera lens at.....let me know and I'll try my best.

Nice one Smiley. If you can (and you fancy it), see if you can go up the red cage car park on Brunel St and take a pic from the angle that the old New St pic is on the Old Brum thread. It would be interesting to see how the new station develops from this angle!
![]() It's next to Orion so it's not out of your way... Good luck

Yeah I know the one, I've poked my lens through that red mesh on many occasions to get pics of Orion in its early stages.

I should be able to get all those in no probs....seeing as we've gone render mad at the moment try and think of some new vantage points within the city centre that would have a lot of the recent proposals in them.

If I drive I'll get a few distance shots (I'll class the view from St Andrews as distance) but if I go by public transport (fancy a few beers in town
) I'll only be taking shots from inside the centralish area

Duddeston station used to be a hive of activity - carriage sheds, shunting yards, acres of tracks and electric powerline gantries - now it's overgrown, deserted, run down and as derelict as it's possible to imagine. Quite why railtrack closed that whole depot down is a mystery - it would have seen better servuce retained as a secondary goods yard or even a new EMU depot instead of the Soho site (on the line between Brum and Wolverhampton). Duddeston used to have four platforms too - and now it's a stunted island platform with the other one overgrown and completely abandoned.
What it used to look like: ![]() What it now looks like: depressing, huh? |

It's not exactly the highlight of the Walsall to Bham rail journey...
