Been kind of busy preparing home for the forthcoming arrival of my daughter and work hasn't taken me to many good photo locations recently. Taken a bit to the south of chris's last pic from between Ashton and Mossley

Sure is, but we will have to wait for the sides being painted and the top tidied up before it looks decent. Portland tower looks shit painted black, looks like it has been coated with tar.I hate it

I quite like Portland tower painted black, definately much better than before, but I dont think it will look as good as Sunley when it is finished. Sunley is getting fresh black panels (so you wont get the tar coat look) whereas Portland was just as good as painted black.

Apparently it was the illuminated sign that caught fire. Don't think it was too serious.

This skyline panorama (albeit a tad overcast) was taken earlier today from the fourth storey of Houldsworth Mill in Reddish - which commands some great views over South Manchester. Beetham Tower is very prominent on the far left of the pic - almost stealing the limelight from the other three major towers on the city skyline. Notice how spread out everything appears cos of the angle from where the city centre is being viewed (approx 44 degrees South-East)

I also have a longer stretched panoramic shot which takes in the Fallowfield University campus tower block..... the range visible here is something like 5.3 miles.....

BTW - every picture I upload onto any website always looks crummy in colour and blurred to fuck for some reason - I guess - as ever - it's a Mac thing, cos when I open these JPGS up in Photoshop they look as sharp as some of the ones the rest of you have posted here. I guess I'll never ever be able to compete with the Windows-owning elite the world over....

On my many many trips to Saddleworth this summer travelling via Mossley and Hartshead Pike I see this brilliant panoramic vista of the city spread out below us (with Oldham in the foreground)- but my camera can't get any pics of it mainly cos I'm on a bus speeding up the A-roads that climb to this impressive altitude and besides, any pics would inevitably be blurred to buggery and totally useless anyway....but one day I will alight near here and climb to the Pike and get some better shots when the weather is at its clearest. This part of Oldham (near the three-way boundary split between Lancashire, Yorkshire and Cheshire) has some of the best viewpoints from the north-east side looking down over the city....it's no coincidence that I always tend to come up here.

MG - Is Houldsworth Mill the Hat Museum? Might have to have a gander in there! Nice to see shots of the skyline with a nice chunk of greenery.

I took that photo the day I saw you at Greenfields MG! Bloody good viewpoint, you could see Liverpool and Jodrell Bank and some bloody distant windfarm somewhere past Rochdale.
