To Be A Better Bahrain

Few days in Bahrain.
I think this country needs lot to work out.
These are my thought in random order.

1. Plant many trees. As trees can absorb the heat and create winds.
2. Put majority of transport into public transport ... and build it underground.

By then ...
the surface will have many trees .... and people is using underground transportation.
See Singapore as an example .... .the majority of people moving is underground.
While singapore is a hot country ..... due to many trees it is not that hot there.
I am not saying that ... Bahrain can be as warm as Singapore ..... Hey ... It's a dessert :-)
It's just it will absorb the heat ... and will make it better.

And ... If Bahrain use the |MRT like singapore ... there will be less private cars .. and less pollutions

Maybe not all the gulf, but u think we don't have humidity in Bahrain, hahahaahaah, you couldn't be more wrong, we're the probably the worst place in the world when it comes to humidity....But only during the summer...The heat would probably be much more tolerable, and better than any other place in the gulf, if it wasn't for the humidity....The fact that we're an island might have something to do with the crazy humidity levels...Same with Singapore...We do neeed some more trees and green however...But an underground isn't soo necessary, at least not immediately...Perhaps in a few years time, as Bahrain is starting to grow an at ever increasing pace, hope this continues....

I do agree with Patriot, Bahrain has humidity in the region of 90% - 100% in the summer usually so who said we don't have it. Let me give you an example, one day it's 42 celcius and we have 90% humidity so it feels like 54 celcius instead, so we're much hotter than Singapore.

My pointers and I always brag about these:

- we need more trees for sure, definately.
- clean the place more, you get many gulf ppl who don't care and just litter cause it ain't their country plus a few Bahrainis who are dirty themselves.
- some sort of train, we need one.
- roads need to be paved and trucks need to be on at night not during the day.
- cracks need to be fixed (we need to wait until this new sitra causeway is finished).
- more flyovers.

About Bahrain bein borin, my reply to all who say that is that you don't really know what to do. There are a lot of things you can do to enjoy a night out, but to achieve that, you need to spend some money, it doesn't come for free. So, therefore, you can live normally in Bahrain as a citizen as long as you are not one of the many who have repetitive programs and keepin sayin there's nothin to do when they don't know about a lot of the things out there which are available.

However, the future is very much promising for bahrain . I'd say 2 more years come back and you might forget your 2 boring days !

In terms of entertainment, what is really different about Dubai besides better public beaches, an aqua park (we're gettin a couple in the next few years), better gardens i.e. more trees, and more hotels. Am talkin about the city and not the whole emirate i.e. desert excavations. It's the same, if you have money, you can have loadsa fun in Bahrain and same applies in many places.

Singapore is 100% urabanized compared to 40% in Bahrain so you have more things to do, but trust me, Bahrain isn't borin, it's happenin, mabye not like the 80's but it's goin to get better hopefully.

We have to do it ... at the same time.
See ... if all the construction is complete and many skyscrapers and apartments bulding (BWTC,BFH etc ) are finished.... this will make more difficult to build underground transport system, besides the land for planting tree will be deminished little by little.

So I think we have to plant many trees and at the same time build underground transport infra.

I wish I could Yell this to the Kingdom of Bahrain. :-)

Do you know that in SIngapore .... the majority of people moving is underground ? ... that's why Singapore is not as hectic as Mumbai, Beijing or Jakarta on the surface ..... people flows is underground.

In Bahrain ... the traffic is .... well ... seem that the traffic rule is not strict ...

Yes alrighht, but because of people's mentality here in the gulf, and because of materialism and showiness, an underground wouldn't do much to help ease traffic...It will, but not by much, not at least at the moment...People's mentalities and attitudes are changing slowly, more here in Bahrain than anywhere else in the gulf, but an underground right now wouldn't be as useful as u think...Only expatriates and indians, and some pooor poeple would use it probably, if we were to construct one now... =S

I'll agree with Bahraini Patriot with regards to the change in mentality, but may I add as well that our infrastructure would not permit such a project. So the best solutions would be either trams or monorails

1- People will accept various methods of transportation only when these are (Acceptabley convenient) it does not have to do with mentality at large scale. What is needed are things like Full coverage of services to include majority of cities and villages.

One more thing is expats, Bahrainies would accept public transport if it’s dedicated to (decent users) they will not set next to an expat workers who stink!

Another thing that should be provided is separated areas for women on the public transport vehicle/train, which would better suit and lessen chances of harassment!

2-Someone suggested underground? No, they will not build one ever, the reason is that Bahraini ground layers are full of water like a sponge, officials declined this more than once.

Not sweet water, it is sea water which has entered and replaced sweet water, pumped out for various reasons, irrigation, house use, etc.

We sadly have small reserves of sweet water
