Yes, they're very similar. Maybe because both of them (MP 89 and NS 93) were developed by Alstom.

I`ve visited some of the main cities around the world NY, LA, SF, Philadelphia, Rio, London, Paris, Rome...but never asian cities so I can't talk about their subways but if i have to talk about Europe and America I will say that madrid's is the best. It only costs 1€uro, trains are modern, station are new or reformed and you can travel around the whole city easily. Madrid has also the best ratio in subway kilometers per habitant of the world. do not consider only if they are beautiful o not, but also the whole service they provide.

Best: Hong Kong & Singapore

Worst: Rome & Philadelphia
Philadelphia I cannot comment on as I have not traveled it, but I thought the subway in Rome was quite good. (I'm referring to the new cars they have, perhaps they only had the old ones when you were there) There were lots of stops and the trains came quite often.

If you really want to experience the worst subway/rail system in the world, come here to Calgary. Our LRT has 2 lines serving a fraction of the million people living here, never mind the fact that the trains are too short, too slow, and too infrequent.

Philly's subways aren't too bad - dark, somewhat cramped, and a little dirty, but probably not the worst that I've been on.

All of you who are complaining about other subway systems not being as good as your own. Be grateful, at least all of the ones listed so far are fairly decent. When I lived in the Atlanta area, there were only 2 subway lines and neither of them went more than a mile or so outside the city limits. The suburbs did not have any rail public transportation of any kind. Many of the suburbs did not even have bus service! Heck, quite a few of the surrounding suburbs did not even have taxi service to them! If you did not own a car, you were screwed! I would love to have any of the subway systems on this list!

Ok the thought of being chained to a car and in a situation like sounds like absolute hell to me. Not even Bus and Taxi service in suburbs? Let's just say it would take a whole lot of adjusting and complaining.

Sense dubtes, Madrid.

Si ho prefereixes, parle en català, que ben segur que ho entens millor. Crec que havia quedat clar, encara que el meu anglès no sigui gens bo.
