Thanks for that EK, what fantastic photos! Great looking through all the others on the website too. On the photo with the white Beetle, that is a really narrow tower block (not the one that's sideways!) - I wonder if it's still standing today.

I'll be posting some more of my photos in the not too distant future

I do know that many towers were demolished in Newtown during the 90's

I remember those flats being featured on Midlands Today when they were refurbished because I think they were state of the art "eco friendly" - solar panels etc. If I remember rightly one block is called Bowater House.

I recently went to the motor museum in Gaydon, Warwickshire and they had this time line of British cars from the early 1900's up to today with the new Land Rover Discovery 3. In the 1966 section there was this poster showing what must be Castle Vale so I made sure I took a photo!

Well refurbished they were.I'm all for saving blocks like these.I hate house after house after house.Anway,I always use them to orientate msef (takes a lot of doing).I think people will miss them in the future.

over thirty Nacho but there were/are dozens more in the surrounding area, I recall travelling around there a few years back and being fixated by the many high rises.

By the way Butterfield, that be a Bjork signature no doubt. Good tune.

THIRTY FOUR tower blocks at Castle Vale from what I've read over the years, only two left I think!
