I have a question
Are Japanese people allowed to see the Imperial Palace( the inside I mean) because I haven't seen one pic of the Palace, other than the gate and bridge.
If you aren't allowed to see it why? If you are please post some pics from inside the walls. |

As far as I know nobody is allowed. Only Royal Family members, staff and maybe the Prime Minister? Foreign Presidents? I don't know well.

Thats so stupid he's leading your country the least he could do is let you in his house, personally I don't like the concept of not being able to take a tour of the palace, afterall you did build it.

You can't go into the actual PALACE, but you can walk around the gardens, ponds, etc. in the Palace grounds (at least I did anyway)

There actually is tours of the White House. I view it as this it's not his house it's the Japanese people's house. He's your leader the least he can do is allow you to take tours of his house, because you pay his check and you keep in power.

Please stop embarrassing us Americans who have to deal with the image people like you create for all of us.
1. The Emperor is not the leader of Japan. He is strictly a ceremonial figurehead, as is mandated by the Constitution. 2. The majority of the Imperial Family's expenses are covered by personal wealth and Imperial "endowments" in a similar way to how Harvard is funded $20 billion a year off of interest in managed accounts. Few Japanese tax yen go to the Imperial budget. 3. While you can tour public parts of the White House, you most certainly cannot walk through the private living areas of the First Family. I cannot think of a single royal family in the world that gives open tours to their personal living areas. The Imperial Palace in Chiyoda is the Emperor's personal living quarters. You want to tour an Imperial Palace? You are welcomed to the ones in Kyoto, Nara and Kamakura anytime. Or the Chiyoda palaces's outer grounds. You can even tour the inner grounds and part of his personal living quarters twice a year - on his birthday (Dec 23) and New Years - he'll even personally shake your hand on those days. 4. Most importantly, Japan has traditions that go back thousands of years. Chrysanthemum Throne is the oldest continuing monarchy in the world, going back 125 Emperors and Empresses. If Japanese tradition dictates that the Emperor live privately, then that's how it is, period, end of discussion. |

So I don't know alot about Japan, or the Emperor, or stuff relating to him, you know what I'm not the one embarassing Americans, the ones that are embarassing Americans are the ones that say racist stuff and blame Democrats for their problems. So sorry but I just wanted to know why it was like that in Japan.
Now I have another question if the Emperor dies can a woman take his thrown as the following Empress? PS What is the Emperors name? Also what image am I making of Americans I'm just asking a question, I'm not making fun of their culture, nor am I saying anything to discriminate against them. |

1. In the ?cŽº“T”Í (Koushitsu-Tenban, the rulebook for most things in the Imperial Family), it says that only men can take the Imp. Throne. But that might change because the crown prince (the next emperor) doesn't have a son to inherit the throne, only a daughter. Also Japan has records of 8 empresses in the past. 2. The emperor's real name is Akihito, but people usually don't call him that. Instead they call him Tennou-Heika ("the emperor"). After he dies, people will call him Heisei Tennou ("Emperor of the Heisei Era") |

There have been 8 female Emperors; only since the mid 19th century when the Imperial Household adopted Salic Law style succession from Prussia have women been banned from holding the throne. This is likely to change again very soon, as Akikito's son and daughter in law, Crown Prince Naruhito and Crown Princess Masako, only have one daughter and are unlikely to have male child. There is strong support among the Japanese public for a Constitutional amendment allowing for female succession.

Considering that the English, Danish, and Dutch Queens all seem to be doing just fine, it only stands to reason.
Bring on that amendment! |

do ordinary Japanese still have faith in the Emperor? do they still believe the Emperor is descended from the Sun line? do they still believe he is divine? |
