Over here the colours are usually that of the city council / state. Or some mixture that includes them at least. Other places they're the colours of the company that runs the system.

Who decides most places is probably always going to be whoever owns them.

Here in Barcelona, our autonomous government of Catalonia chooses the official image of the trains and the trains or metro companies choose the colours.

I think the Transport for London in London does, Chicago Transit Authority in Chicago, and Toronto Transit Commission in Toronto.

We have a universal "Corporate" livery of white car bodies with blue skirting and red doors.

The only example that doesn't match are the unrefurbished D Stocks of the District Line, but these are being refurbished at a rate of 1 a fortnight and are returned to us in Corporate Livery.

Some unusual liveries, sported as advertisments (I can only think of these three examples)

"United Airways" on the Piccadilly Line:

"Yellow Pages" on the Circle Line:

"Back the Bid" on the Jubilee and Circle Lines:

All have since been returned to corporate livery (including the last 2 I think)

instead of repainting them, why not BUY NEW FRIGGIN TRAINS for the district/circle/ham & city/ metropolitan they must have been transporting commuters since the dinosaurs roamed the earth.

Patience is a virtue. A universal stock for all "Sub-Surface" Lines will be rolled out in the few years. Bear in mind there's about 200 trains to replace (about 1500 cars).

but isn't the £8 a day congestion charge, the PPP, increased fares meant to be paying for this? Instead of on £35'000 train drivers, with free tfl travel, and is it 6 or 8 weeks paids holiday? Im all for paying people a decent wage but surely lets get the service right first instead of aksing virtually every londoner to pay more whether in congestion charge, tube tickets or council tax.

Your Cities Bus Livery

What does your cities bus livery look like?

I'll start with Perth, Western Australia - Transperth.

Transperth oversees and regulates a bus service throughout the Perth metropolitan area and some fringe rural areas. Transperth buses are privately operated, but publicly owned.

The older buses

The newer buses

Hydrogen Bus

The Perth Central Area Transit System (Perth CAT), or simply CAT, is a set of three bus routes in the center of Perth, a bus route in Fremantle, and a bus route in Joondalup. Unlike all other Transperth services, all CAT routes are zero-fare.
