All lines will be converted into automatic metro? Or it is the plan for converting tram lines 3/4 into a normal metro with the driverless trains?

In a first fase lines 1 and 5 will be equipped with automated metro trains (43 will be ordered).

And when will that be?

The cars look good (and very futuristic) and there seems to be a lot of space inside. Still, I do not really like the idea of a train without a driver. (That's just me. I'm very old-fashioned ).

I could live witout a driver, but what pisses me off is the platform screen doors. It narrows the space in the stations and makes them look so claustrophobic.

Wow... i have seen many platform screen doors (all abroad, none in my country), but they never made me feel claustrophobic. They made me feel a lot safer (people have been pushed on the tracks here, some have not survived).

Where do they already have those doors? I've never seen them before.

They don't narrow the space at stations at all, given they are placed what what would be an 'yellow line' over which no one should pass except of boarding and disembarking.

There are PSDs that seal the whole tunnels, and others (merely 2,7m high or so) that only blocks track access from the platform. The decision for which model depends on the ventilation design: isolating whole tunnels makes more sense on systems whose stations are well spaced and need high-powered forced ventilation anyways, whilst short-spaced stations might get away with the wind tunnel effects to help circulate air.

I've seen them 3 years ago in Paris already. They felt very save because during rush hour Paris metro is so busy one can get pushed very easy on the tracks...Becak then they where only on one line in Paris but They have them on many today.

For instance in Barcelona (L9, L10 and L11) and London (Jubilee line).

I've never felt unsafe in the subway in Vienna which doesn't have any screening at all. You hear from time to time about people falling onto the tracks. But this is mostly people doing insane stuff to themselves or between two drunk.

Unless it would make sense for some other technical reasons I don't see why much money should be spent on implementing that feature. And as I side remark, I'd also think it would totally ruin the general subway station design here as well.

Yep, it 'steals' the feeling of a train. With the screen doors u feel like using a regular elevator and not a metro train.
