hmmm - I dunno whether I'd want to be that close to my other hotel competitors...

i wanted to say the exact thing...this project may be a tall tower, which gets most of you all excited-but having 6-7 hotels all wrapped up in one building, sounds more to me like shooting yourself in the foot..!

Well you should because it might determine if this gets built or not, or how financially succesful it might be.

it definitely sounds a bit weird, but dubai lacks in hotel rooms
right now everything is 100% occupied
even in the summer!!!!

it will be interesting to follow which chain or hotel groups will occupy this tower

anyway, it's said there is the possibility to do that, but in the end the tower could also only house 2 huge hotels of maybe 1000+ rooms each

maybe there will be changes and a part will become residential
who knows!

@Travis007...in most cases that would be true but in Dubai, once it's announced , chances are 90% it will be built. Dubai has too much money and i'm also sure they put some planning into this b4 hand. It would also be too much bad press if a building was cancelled or scaled down from the original design which is why I doubt any buildings will be cancelled after being approved.

It wont nececaraly be split into different hotels, it just has the capability to be done so.

they might even be from the same opperator.

just think, you cold have a 5* at the top, then 4* e.t.c...

some serviced appartments will also be sold.

If they eased up on the crackdown on prostitution, they could fill them with sex tourists!

Bonyan to build 150-floor hotel, world's tallest

By Saifur Rahman, Staff Reporter

Dubai:
Property developers Bonyan International Investment Group will invest Dh4.4 billion ($1.2 billion) to build the world's tallest hotel tower in Dubai Park Square Tower, officials said.

The height of the tower, to be located near the Trade Centre junction, has not been disclosed, but the officials revealed it could exceed 150 floors. But all that may change as the project takes final shape, they added.

A group of UAE-based investors National Investments Company, Al Ayaan Group of Companies, Feasibility Group, as well as prominent Omani and Qatari investors are behind Bonyan which has been rebranded from Dar International for Development (DAR).

Construction of the mammoth project, which will also be the world's second-tallest tower planned so far, is expected to start in six months and be completed by 2010.

The project is being developed in partnership with KM Properties, part of Al Rostamani Enterprises.

The company has yet to appoint an architectural firm to fine-tune the concept.

Tariq Ramadan, Bonyan's group general manager, told Gulf News, "We will appoint a consortium of local and international architects for the project, probably through a design competition. Following the detailed design, we will float tenders for the project.

"The tower will have serviced apartments and a shopping and entertainment arcade. However, all are in raw concept form. We will fine-tune them in the coming months taking views of future partners and tenants to offer the best solutions to their needs and adjust the design in accordance with their requirements."

profile

Group has ambitious plans for the future

Portfolio includes eight large towers under construction in the UAE and Qatar.
It plans to develop several projects across the region with investments of over Dh5 billion.
Total value of the ongoing projects is over Dh3 billion. With Park Square Tower, it will shoot up to Dh8 billion.

Construction is expected to start in six months yet they havn't even hired an architect to design the tower. Things sure do happen fast in Dubai!!!

What makes you say it'll be 700m Dubai-Lover - it'd need to have a very tall spire to make 150 storeys into 700 metres. Anyway great news. I would never of believed that a third 700m+ tower would be proposed. Dubai becomes more and more insane by the day. Bring it on!!!!
