And a very creepy place is Pripryat, an abandoned town in the so called "zone of alienation" surrounding the Chernobyl plant. Come to think of it I have never seen a more harrowing structure then the Chernobyl plant, I wish I had some pictures.

There is no city on earth that fascinates me more than Detroit. It has some of the most bleak, depressing, and just soulless areas as well as some of the most beautiful architecture anywhere. It is a perfect place to shoot a horror movie as the city itself could be the monster.

^wow detroit seems to have a seriously gritty edge, must be why it produces the best techno music in the world along with the equally gritty Berlin.

That place has been used in a couple of SciFi shows, Stargate and Battlestar Galactica most notably.
