Cardiff, Llandaff Cathedral

Cardiff Uks hidden gem part 1 part 2

Here is a trip i took to Cardiffs Llandaff Cathedral. Llandaff is a posh area of the city with an old english village feel. It is here that Rhoal Dhal (childrens author eg BFG, Matilda etc) grew up and went to school. It is here that local celebrity Charlott church lives. To get to the cathedral you can either go straight up Cathedral rd or take a nice walk through the unbroken chain of parks.
from the city center you enter bute park past the castle

you can either take the concrete path or take a wilder path

but both are not far from each other

and there are plenty of nice places next to the river

these parks are completely surrounded by the city (here is a view of the city center

after crossing a major rd you get to the cathedral

Connected to the cathedral is a chapel for welsh soldiers who fought in many wars and still do, the interesting thing in here are the battle flags that were held by soldiers when they went into battle (many with major battle damage)

The cathedral is set in the side of a hill and at the top is this

More to come

ahh Llandaff. This is my part of town. Used to work in that Spar. The ruined building in the third picture from the bottom is the emblem of the school i just finnished my A levels in, Glantaf. Useless trivia

p.s these and the other pictures will go down a treat if you post them in the skyline and cityscape thread on the UK board too

Another nice set of pics there. You're showing an aspect of Cardiff that hasn't been seen before on here.
That first photo must have been taken from the top of Eastgate House, how did you get up there?

My friend works there, and they are doing the windows on the top floor. When they were on lunch we snuck in as they left it open. Was an amazing view, full 360 degrees but cammera packed up, so only got the one shot!
