Jin Mao Tower vs Taipei 101

Many people have mixed reviews about these towers, so why not face them against each other?

Jin Mao

Taipei 101

I'll vote for Shanfhai. Jin Mao looks much more elegant than Taibei...

Jin Mao for me aswell, what you can't see from those pics is the Bund just across the river from it which is what I'd guess the art deco parts of the design are refferencing.

The Jin Mao is quite elegant, and modern yet classic. Taipei 101 looks strange to me.

I like Jin Mao tower.

And the best: everyone can enjoy to live in one of the upper floors because it's a hotel.

Jin Mao Tower has by far the most facade structural patterns of any skyscraper today, not to mention how elegant it is.

I like T101 but the design and color scheme doesn't do it for me.

Though I've only seen one of these in person (Jin Mao), I think it does a much better job at the modernization of traditional Chinese architecture than Taipei 101 does. While Taipei 101 is by no means a bad looking tower, the Jin Mao building is absolutely gorgeous, and is one of my favourite skyscrapers in the entire world.

The views from the top kind of suck, though, because the observation deck has a lot of blocked sightlines. The views from the neighbouring Oriental Pearl Tower are far superior. The huge atrium of the Hyatt in the Jin Mao is really cool, though.

I think they both kind of suck, but if I had to pick one over the other, I'd pick Jin Mao

Jin Mao. It tapers gracefully like a giant redwood but the Taipei 101 has weirdly stacked reverse slopes which make it look less natural.

Taipei 101 is ugly from far away. Jin Mao is ugly close-up.

I like T101 a little more though.

Jin Mao! I love that tower! Just so cool! It is one of my favorite towers!

TP101 is okay but I think it is kind of ugly. It just isnt so nice.

IMO a tie. Both are rather impressive structures although I think Jin Mao's charm disappears a bit from close distance (making the building less ornamental / picturesque and surprisingly more blocky / uninspired) and I'd probably apply a different color pattern to T101. Still, I like them both.

I don't like either building all that much, but I prefer Jin Mao. It wears its height much more gracefully than Taipei 101, which is too bulky and has the appearance of being on the verge of tipping over.
