I think it's great the way London has two rising skyscraper areas-that of CW and the City. Both are able to have a unique style and the competition between them means each will vie for the top spot in the city, which will lead to more skyscrapers being built.

Canary Wharf is going for the kind of New York style skyscrapers, that is to say, the, for want of a better word, 'box' shaped ones, which, contrary to some forumers on here actually looks very impressive when in a cluster, which CW is developing. The view of CW at night across the Thames looks particularly impressive.

The City area, in contrast, is going for very stylalised and unique skyscrapers, with great variety in shape; the designs for LBT and Bishopgate in particular look fantastic. I bow down to you Renzo Piano

Heres to a bright looking future for London's skyline

Maybe if you got the CW buildings to the right scale it would look better.

The tallest in the La Defense cluster are 187m only 13m short of HSBC and Citigroup.

London, on the other hand, has masses of buildings around 10 stories but they all seem to create a flat landscape and so they raise the 'ground level' much higher than it really is making the towers look smaller....

On top of that the massive sea of buildings are groundscrapers, and groundscrapers do a great job of undermining the impact of skyscrapers in my opinion...

But all these are temporary issues, CW and the City are fantastic... London should never be looked at as "The City" or "Canary Wharf" It must be remembered that both of these skylines are forming in the middle of the same city... and theyare not just two similar clusters, the best part about London is how there are two very very different clusters... one experimental and organic, the other much more formal and planned...
couldnt agree more mate.

in contrast, american cities scrapers look more impressive because there is a flat spral of suburbs all the way to the city centre

Pan Peninsula is having foundation works done at the moment. The next buildings going up in CW are the smaller groundscrapers around the Barclays Tower.

What an ambitious project! But I'm not surprised, it looks like the new londoner's spirit.

London a great city and so exciting!

Better make that 2050 at the rate things are going. I'm sure Columbus is only the 1st of many to die a death of these "wonderful" London proposals. As long as they build LBT I don't care, it's the best of the lot by a mile.

Why are you saying that? Why shouldnt the rest of the buildings get built just because one is cancelled? I think they will be built...
