I hope they don't build much skyscrapers in this central region of London or it's gonna lose its amazing character and look just like any 2 million people city from USA.

For example in Paris La Defense is great because it's far from downtown..

No 2 mio paople city in the USA has got buildings like these, if London looks like this by 2012 i think the only american cities that can compare to it is NYC and Chicago (perhaps LA if more scrapers get built there).

Btw. I understand that it takes a pretty long time to get building permission for scrapers in central London but i think it´s weird CW hasn´t got more buildings since it´s far from down town and i think no one could complaine about what kind of scrapers gets buil there...

From what I understand, due to the proximity to London City Airport, Canary Wharf has height restrictions. If you look at a picture of Canary Wharf in 2008, you'll see that the the further east you go, the shorter the buildings are. So anywhere in London has restrictions, whether they be sight-line, height or location!

I HATE THIS TERM 'WORLD CLASS SKYLINE'! i THINK ROME, COPENHAGEN ETC HAVE WORLD CLASS SKYLINES.

A CITY DOESNT 'NEED' SKYSCRAPERS TO BE WORLD CLASS. LONDON IS A WONDERFUL CITY AND THE UK FORUMERS ON HERE DONT NEED TO FEEL CITY ENVY THAT OTHER PLACES HAVE MORE TOWERS.

I PERSONALLY HOPE THE CITY DOESNT GO TOO TALL AND THAT TOWERS ARE CONCENTATED IN CANARY WHARF. LONDON NEEDS AN OVERARCHING TALL BUILDINGS POLICY URGENTLY TO KEEP THE SKYLINE TIDY AND PREVENT A MESS OF TOWERS POPPING UP ALL OVER THE PLACE. PARIS SHOULD BE LONDONS MODEL IN MY OPINION?

I agree steppenwolf, everything has it's place and good skyscrapers are at the best when together like CW.
