Neo-Gothic and Neo-Classical.

They are all good.
But since the point is to pick one, I select Reniassance Revival as a good balance between the severity of Neo-classical and the sometimes overwrought Beaux Arts style (and the earlier Baroque for that matter). I like how the architects of the Reniassance took Roman and Greek styles as a basis and developed something "new".

You left out at least three other historical styles...
  • Art Deco from the 1920's
  • Modernism from the 50's to 70's
  • And Post Modernism from the 70's through the mid 90's

Historical is any thing from the past, all three of these styles have come and gone (We are in New Modernism today).

My vote is for Modernism, especially work by Mies Van der Rohe, and SOM in the 50's-70's (Sears Tower, John Hancock...)

It's hard to pick only one of these + there are also other great architectural styles...
Anyway, let's say Neo-Classical

This is by no means an exhaustive list of historical architectural styles! Here in Europe we have Gothic without the "neo-" prefix, and Renaissance without the revival - and the original styles tend to be better than their copies too!
