korea 2002, when constructing the steel reinforcement of concrete floor slabs, two layers of steel mesh are made , one on top of the other separated by spacers called chairs. in a typical foor slab of 250mm thickness , the chairs would be approximately 180mm tall. the raft of the busan lotte tower is 4m thick so the chairs are huge.

This is probably one of my favorite towers going up right now. Such a simple design, and yet the combination of minor details (the way the segments become further inset as they go up, and swirl of the observatory deck on the roof) and great proportions make it really wonderful.
But I still can't get over how much I'd rather they'd build it in some other part of Busan; maybe Suyeong-gu, or even Seomyeon-gu. |

The design is fantastic. But i would be even better if the tower would be 510m tall without the spire
