Dresden is beautiful, i visited last Xmas. Nice baroque architectures.

Well, you got your market square and old town back in the 60s (?). No German city has ever undertaken a reconstruction project like that.

Yeah, those goddamn commies didn't care about history. Warsaw's old town still looks better though than its German counterparts.

Nobody says that there are no bad examples. In Germany these buildings would have been torn down however.

Cologne Opera pre-war:



Post-war:



Apparently the pre-war building could have been salvaged. All of Cologne's old town was devastated and it was rebuilt w/o care and effort. Looks like crap now.

Quartier V (the two buildings on the right. The one on the left (Hotel Stadt Rom) may be reconstructed as well, a decision on that hasn't been made yet though):

These are the type of buildings that people should live in, regardless of what year or century this is. Not commieblocks, nor sprawls.
