I'll second that! It looks really nice! The modern buildings are actually pretty nice, it would be monotonous if they all were baroque...

It looks a little too EuroDisney for my tastes. But, I think that once the buildings get broken in and looked a little more worn that they will make the entire district absolutely stunning. It will look authentic, versus a reconstruction as it plainly looks like now.

Didn't Bavaria decide to reconstructs its city center in a similar fashion more immediately after WWII? Right now, it looks amazing. I imagine the exact same will happen with Dresden.

Bavaria? That's a state, not a city, you know. If you're talking about reconstructed places like Rothenburg, you're right of course.

Anyway, well done Dresden, Rampische looks geil!

Only the Innside Hotel needs a paintjob in its center (a lighter beige maybe) to blend in.

Of course it will, look at Warsaw. You just can't tell today the old town isn't authentic.

Does anyone have updated aerial photos of the area? It would be interesting to have an idea of the progress during the last 6 years.

You can try this one, already mentioned here:
http://panorama.dresden.de/

It's not really "aerials" but it gives you a pretty good idea of how much it has changed over the past 7 years.

I have been following this thread and Dresden is looking awesome! Is there a website that shows the full stages of reconstruction? I am just curious what else is next.
