Yeah, old architecture is so much better than the modern crap that's built these days. You can even see it on the Neumarkt. The modern buildings can't hold a candle to their old counterparts.

On the left you can see part of Dresden's castle, which gives you an idea how close it is to the Neumarkt:

Additional Construction

I have noticed several large cranes in the Neummarkt background of the Cityscope Webcam (East, I believe ~ 1/2 mile).... Can anyone tell me what is being built / reconstructed in this area ?

I could not agree more! There is also a plan to rebuild the mercado da figueira in Lisbon. I've seen some photos of the old market and could not stop wondering who was the retard that had the 'brilliant' idea of having it demolished...
Germany however is doing a great job in rebuilding it's lost architectural gems.

Nein, Kampfy kommt aus Lohmar (NRW).
Muß man nicht kennen, obwohl der Wohnort des GröPAZ eines Tages weltbekannt sein wird.

Excuse me writing German. Just talked about the greatest protector of all times.

Indeed, there's actually some talk about renaming it "Stadt des Protektors."

Now look at this baroque charme. Modern architecture just doesn't come close to it:

An der Frauenkirche 16/17 & Quartier III:

Quartier V/2 (renderings for that project are on the previous page):

Stuttgart should do the same with its Marktplatz. Tear it all down and rebuild it.

Just went and took a look at photos of the Stuttgart Markplatz. You are sure all correct .... The Dresden reconstruction is a masterpiece compared to this, and other reconstruction photos I have seen. Bravo to the people of Dresden !

Awsome project! Makes me really dream that another specified German city (we all know which one ) would get such a grand reconstruction project.

I am hoping the rebuilding of destroyed buildings in other parts of Germany (and Europe) will gain momentum and popularity once the Neumarkt is finished.

Modern Architecture looses it's "modern charm" after 10-20 years, requiring demolition/reconstruction. Classical Architecture is meant to stay for centuries. And people these days like to talk about efficiency and sustainability.

this is great for dresden!
I wish we had projects like that over here. Though not lost to bombs, it would be nice if we could rebuild many lost landmarks over here.
I think evuantally with all the reconstruction, Germany will be back to its former glory.
