I see. To be fair Dresden does painting in a subtle way which is great, but reconstructions/restorations you find elswhere in Central/Eastern Europe are just terrible, although still better than some concrete or glass monstrosity.

Geil

Some greenery on the facades would be great, especially in those narrow alleys.
Adds a lot coziness and natural comfort to the scene.

Can't wait for the reconstruction of the next Quartier to begin. When are they finally gonna be getting underway?!

So sexy...

Hmmm.... I'm a little confused now. The two buildings on the left of this picture (or something reminiscent of them) will be added next, right?

That, I'm guessing, is what Kampflamm means by the next Quarter. Or am I reading something wrong here?

Well, I'm hoping that they will start at some point. The next big construction project is the final piece of the Rampische Stra▀e puzzle:

I think they are still looking for investors for the quartier I mentioned above. Here's a film I posted a while back that gives you a good overview:

How beautiful. I come to this thread just about every day to see new pictures of the Neumarkt. I saw this area in 1994 and there was not even a hint of the beauty that was lost. Seeing these pictures gives me hope that there is some beauty left in the world.

Kaiser Wilhelm Kirche should be rebuilt

Yes I have often thought the same, and when I saw a pre-war photo of the church it really came home how ugly the post war mish-mash was and as you rightly say it's time to move on, there are plenty of WW2 memorials about. It may not have been an outstanding building but its reconstruction would immeasurably add to the beauty of an area badly blighted by post war redevelopment.

I don’t see that happening any time soon, unfortunately, and that’s a shame as it was truly an extraordinary church.

The whole panorama shows what an amazing work has already been done:

All the blocks you see, including Frauenkirche and parts of the Castle were reconstructed in just the last 10 years.

And the work will go on...now all they need to do is flatten the commieblocks neighboring the Neumarkt and rebuild those parts as well.
