Amen to that. It's enough that they kept the Kulturpalast.

That would be awesome! I wish they would do that in Berlin as well! Some of those flats are horrible looking!

All in time. I'm sure the property value of those blocks will lead to further redevelopment, hopefully keeping historical rather than modern.

And finally another portal.
Compared to other towns in the region the lack of portals is the most disappointing aspect of the whole project.

Nice...although a bit too shiny.

Somebody needs to sprinkle some dirt and dust onto the Neumarkt.

I second that! WOW, it looks amazing! I'm very excited to see construction start on the other phases. I think as it ages, it will look even better!

Some buildings are truly ugly with a real feeling of "cheap" detailing.

^ Could you give an example of what you're referring to? The modernist buildings?

I will probably visit the square this spring and come back with some impressions.

Yeah, time will fix that. Everything was new, once.

HOWEVER

What are the roof tiles made of? Not terra cotta, from the looks.
Which is a mistake.

I'm quite sure they are. They look shinny because they're new and it was raining when the pictures were taken.

If it's too new/clean, they want it aged/dirty, if it's too old/dirty, they want it restaurated/cleaned...
It's just a marvelous job, great to see that there's still such craftmanship, (i'm always impressed even by the quality of ordinary German construction) ,great to see what Germany is doing. Dresden will be ready for much centuries to come

Well, that (especially the rain) explains everything then

If the other blocks are done like these two ones, I think we can be very satisfied.
