Wunderbar! Would be great to see that street and finished off and hopefully some development on the south side where the empty lots sit, any word on those lots?

I disagree, I like it.
The courtyard should look better once the plants catch up in the courtyard.
People always seem to long for perfectness but reality is that the old town was not perfect either, these open courtyards existed also there. And they often looked much poorer than this design which is rather luxurious. Moreover, the Neumarkt urgently needs some more real residents, so that its not merely a tourist trap and hotel cluster but a real city quarter.

Its invasive,no harmony, balance, not functional, and not have cohesion, does not meet the basic requirements of design, looks cheap, destructive and fake

You're exaggerating bro, for real. It doesn't look half that dramatic when seen in person as you just described it.

I'd have been in favour of a complete reconstruction as well. But I can live with this courtyard way better than with the modernist filler garbage elsewhere.

Also, please keep in mind: This is a rather narrow side alley. You can hardly spot that courtyard when walking the Neumarkt area.

They should have enclosed that courtyard with some crazy Deconstructivist glass or steel wall.

I don't particularly like it but in this day and age people like to live in apartments with balconies and large windows, and Dresdeners are probably no exception. If as Erbse says it is in a side alley then it doesn't really matter. In fact it's a shame but two of the things that make it stick out are the colours: the grey baclonies and the wood panelling - if these were white like that section on the left it would look less jarring.

But other than that, it's not too bad. Right?

Great that they're going to start rebuilding How long will the reconstruction take until it's finished?

Neumarkt Dresden says the construction should be completed by September of next year.

The other one to watch is the Hotel Stadt Rom. Seems those damn modernist architects have there fingers in that one too.

The correct way (IMO) to reconstruct Dresden is to replace some buidings in HauptStr. (Neustadt), finish Neumarkt in a trad. way, and reconstruct Altmarkt and parts of Prager Str. Looks like they need 25 more years...

The Neustadter Markt and the Hauptstraße in the Dresdner Neustadt need (some extra) reconstructions, especially the Neumarkt, still don't know when and if they are going to rebuild the Neustadt Rathaus.

At the Altmarkt they need demolish the lego buildings opposite the Kreuzkirche, the socialist-stalinist buildings can stay. What to build at the site opposite the Kreuzkirche? The buildings that stood there before WWII, make a shop/hotel/restaurant etc. at the bottom level, and appartments at the floors above the shop/hotel/restaurant etc.

Don't know if the Prager Straße is possible, with all the Plattenbau etc.
