This is a moving sight. The reconstruction of Dresden is far more extensive than I realized.

Is there construction in the Neustadt as well?

There are streets there that are beautiful, but I saw some of the architecture near the golden statue of Augustus the Strong that was not attractive.

I know that would not be a priority compared to the Altstadt.

Reconstructions in Dresden are spectacular, amazing!

And personally, I like very much the way they look now, "too perfect".

Imagine that the buildings had survived and now you make a great investment in restoration. Would you do it wrong to make the buildings look more deteriorated at the end of the work? That would be absolutely contradictory.

I love the way they look and wish they continue looking like that!

They want to rebuild the former Neustadter Rathaus, which was a really impressive and beautiful building.

It's the ambition by some organization, not official or definite plans though.

That's why I put want in the comment, so to show that a project or something like that isn't official or not planned yet

Wow, the Neustadter Rathaus is gorgeous, would make a much welcome addition to the Haupstrasse.

Here is a prewar picture of Hauptstrasse (from Wikipedia) looks much like Unter Den Linden in Berlin, lined with historic buildings:

I would love to get a thread going on Neustadt/Hauptstrasse if there is enough construction to justify.

And that would be another great tower over Dresden skyline. O, it would be fantastic to reconstruct that...

Not yet... a lot of buildings will have to be demolished for the coming back of Hauptstrasse and that makes everything much harder unfortunately. And even that does not mean the former baroque buildings will be reconstructed as one can see from the latest piece of crapt that was built there:

Yes, that is exactly what I was talking about in my post above about the Neustadt. When I went to Dresden, I saw the Neusdtadt first -then I saw the Elbe panorama and crossed the bridge! A tremendous change. So wonderful.

Oh it would be good to have the old Hauptstrasse built again. I liked many of the streets in the Neustadt very much, but not that section near the bridge.
