From Reading the newspapers, it seems it is not dead just delayed because of the economy. Interesting though, it seems there are too many hotels in the area and it will be condominiums rather then a hotel with retail on the ground floor. I also came across a photo that looks like its from the 30s of the ballroom.

google it: hotel Leipzig Dresden - go to- images
Thanks.

Yes, there are many hotels in Dresden. That building will certainly be a beautiful place to live if it is restored as planned.

Yeah, it looks like shit. Thank God it's hidden away in some alley no one will ever enter.

It just seems weird to cut so relatively small costs which still have a major impact on the overall look of the house.

I really think I was born 100 years too late. When I look at that photo, I just imagine a room full of tuxedos and gowns; and a big band on tour from Berlin.

That is quite lovely. I hope it is in decent condition now.

I like the iron balconies, but the facades are bland as hell. They need to be in the style of Baroque Dresden!

The old style building on the very right in the upper of those two pictures, is it planned like that or is it just a placeholder?

I love the balconies of those modern buildings, but the roof solution is bland. Given that it will be in a narrow street, it will not be such a disaster.

I'm not a big fan of the big shop windows, they look a bit off. Otherwise; great!
