The whole situation must be very moving for the old people of Dresden who know their city from before the war.

Dresda it's really a beautiful city. I visited three years ago and nothing of the neumarkt was built, so I remember a great "esplanade" around the church just finished.
I found amazing seeing this city coming back to life. Not conveinced about the old-style architecture, i find that the modern buildings are better than the one reconstructed as they were.
But at the end who cares?
The city has also a great art-decò district not damaged by the war, a must see.

It would be awesome if we could tear everything down in that city. The Altmarkt is alright though because some of the buildings are built in that Socialist neo-classicist style.

Hardly perfect but I've seen worse.

I think it's just been renovated so it won't be torn down for quite a while.

I have 3 things to say:
The Neo-Classical buildings don't look bad at all, we must all realize that they are better than the Brutalist kind that could be there.
Will they re-build the city hall?
Lastly, what is to become of the '60s monster in front of Altmarkt?
