I wouldn't stress too much about it.

Honestly, they'll likely get replaced with reconstructions in the future or new buildings that are more respectable of the local architecture.

Reality check:

I personally don't see a problem with vibrant and interesting discussions that are not specifically about the thread title but are obviously deeply related. The conversation about modernism and its place in Dresden and other heritage sites is lively, interesting, and provocative. It's a natural outcome and extension of the topic, which is typical and expected of thinking people who have creative insights and opinions. I think such inputs ought not be inhibited by arbitrary censorship and restrictions. Interestingly, the complaints about being 'off topic' usually don't add comments to the 'topic' to generate posts and vitality. When a thread runs to a point of wear-out, we need participation and if related tangents provide such, let's do it. No offense intended, just a point of view.

Including something like that in a reconstructed period area seems really stupid.
Just go backward in this thread, and you will see them in attached images. They are rather hard to miss ...

Here is a start:

IMHO such small number of modern buildings (better yet - modern, but with Mansarddach, traditional size, shape and proportions) in reconstructed Dresden's New Market is absolutely harmless.

Thank you

Thank you for the photos showing the more modern additions to the marketplace site. I appreciate your help with this.

As one of the other posters has said, these don't depart significantly from the traditional structures. Sorry that we can't say that for that big Communist era building along Wilsdruffer Strasse.

The scaffolding is coming down and thus we can finally have a look at the roof... Not a complete disaster as I believe most of us were expecting but still not as good as it could have been if only the original design had been followed at 100%. But the detail on the buildings is so beautiful that it clearly compensates for the less perfect roof.

Overall, I think the result is quite satisfactory, a beautiful addition to the Altstadt.

Even thou the roof of Rampische 33 was stretched, it still turned out a lot better than I expected. Proportions are kept.

Fantastic job there!

The roof proportions might not be a 100% original, but I still can't see anything wrong with it. It looks great and so does the whole building. Great addition!
A really nice detail are the slightly different color shades of the roof tiles. Makes it look less new and sterile.

Now that is awesome, I want to see more of that for Dresden. The roof also looks well proportioned to me.

This wonderful new addition, along with the Frauenkirche in the background, will become one of the most photographed perspectives in Dresden and Germany.
