Now we can compare:

From http://www.neumarkt-dresden.de/rampi...p33_winter.jpg

vs

From http://bausituation-dresden.blogspot.de/

Itīs starting to have a nice bit of "old" town, Dresden.
I suspect some people will miss the "Zigarren-Zigaretten-Tabake". Not bad though...
Funny that right where there was a cart, now there is a car. Lampposts are slightly different now, too.
ps: the parking entrance must be modified if possible, now it looks horrible and too in-the-middle.

Anyway... this winter the picture above will be possible... again. Black and white, of course.

don't know about the real estate prices in Dresden but 950€ for 75mē seems alright to me for probably the most beautiful house and best location in a big city. Especially if you compare it to other big cities in west Germany.

One question: the side facing the entrance to the parking entrance will be simpler, without decorations on the windows?

Yes, but the original had hardly any decoration on the "backside" as well.

This is how the original looked like at the Salzgasse side.

Some paint will be still added on the reconstruction.

Still, the reconstruction will look a lot better, condition-wise, obviously.

The wealthy moved where there was more space, built spacious, luxurious mansions or blocks and townhouses.

While the oldtown conversation movement kicked in pretty late. Many German old towns underwent their first true makeovers during the Nazi era. Cynism granted...

By the way, after this house, what is next in the project?

Hopefully we won't have to wait too long for the construction of Quarter 6 to begin as well.

Sure, it's obvous, but the Kultur Plalast is probably seen as an icon that needs to be kept as a monument over the GDR era...

BTW: anyone hav aerial shot from the time before they started developing the Neumarkt? Just for comparism.

I agree, like right now they need to tear that bullshit down. As for my understanding, the Kulterplast, or whatever that government ugly POS building is, the architect is still alive and they dont want to offend him by tearing it down. But as soon as he kicks the bucket I hope they rip that POS apart and restore more of the old cities fabric. I really hope in the future that more new reconstructions are built so a large part of the old city is there again. For all the work that has been done on this reconstruction so far, it really is a tiny little area compared to how much was lost. Does anyone know if any plans are floating around in the future to restore more of the bombed out city?

From what I can tell everything within the area I put in red is going to be or has been restored. I would absolutely love to see the area I outlined in orange be restored someday, does anyone think that will ever be a possibility in the future for at least some of it to be restored? Id especially love to see the Altstadt Market restored. I know restoring such a huge area would cost incredible amounts of money but maybe someday into the far future this can be done.

Iīd put the Zwinger and the Semper Opera inside the red area (both were reconstructed, if Iīm not mistaken).
