So, the city sales the plots like a developer and uses the money for power, water, media connections or to pave the road. That way Dresden is loosing no money.
ok so if my family members owned the building knocked ddown in warin some of freshly reconstructed blocks, and if that plot was confiscated by ddr, what can i do now?

I'm so glad to see construction beginning on the Quartiers in front of the Kulturpalast! I will return to Dresden once the Neumarkt is fully enclosed by the new, restored buildings.

HOTEL STADT ROM

Does anyone know the status of this proposed project?
ALSO
does that Unfortunate Frieseneck Occurrence threaten any future possibilities for the Palais de Saxe?

Not really an "aerial" but close enough.

Several modern apartment blocks like the one shown on this website:
http://www.residenz-am-zwinger.de/en/

Apparently the old orangerie, almost completely destroyed during WWII, is supposed to be reconstructed but I still haven't found any good information on it.

So, if Your family owned land cleared by ww2 and rebuild after 1950, you may have a case at hand. Please contact Your local Consul or Ambassador from Germany. Good luck!

Hi, The project is on it`s way. It`s winter proofed. The investor has a delay.
They are putting Apartments in the former Hotel.
Fun Fact: The Building was empty since 1945! I think it lasted good!

Frieseneck has a problem: The city`s design administration forces the owner to be as modern as possible. The owner can`t sell the apartments as fast and is loosing money. But if he change the design to neo barock, like the customer demand, the city won`t app-roof it!

I don't think we are talking about the same building. It was detroyed in 1945, and plans exist to rebuild it. This is the Hotel Stadt Rom, on the right:

Btw SonOfThomp. You are right! Mistook Hotel Rom with Hotel Leipzig! weird. Sorry.
But good news I have at least! Plans call for a perfect reconstruction of our beloved Hotel Stadt Rom. There are three different ideas:

1. Put the Hotel slightly moved as single standing building. Because in the 70`s they introduced a bill that regulated building distance for sunlight. Expansive because you have to add 2 more floors underground for a "small" 6 1/2 above floor building.

2. Take down some Stalin style social Housing block and rebuild Hotel Stadt Rom in a hole new block, witch it used to be like and is favored by investors. Ignore the sunlight bill.
The Neumaket association fears modern extensions behind the Hotel.

3. Put like Godzilla a tunnel through the social Housing (The store space is empty for years) re-establish an old street and connect larger Hotel with social Housing owned by not-profit Housing administration, witch is owned by the city. That way back courts are avoided, Street reopened and the Hotel could expand. It would ignore the sunlight bill. The apartments above the tunnel could get balconies toward the Frauen church. One bleak wall could get decorated Italian-style with some water fountain that sits since WW2 in pieces in some basement!

Lots of good news! In difference to the city of Dresden, the government of the state or province of Saxon is pumping money in and plans to complete the ritz works in Italian ways. White stucco is applied black stucco on top and then just scratch off by design! Dresden is Saxon`s capital. It`s like the first time in 300 Years north of the alps they do something like this.

The chapel, one of first protestant chapel in the world is slowly moving towards completion. It`s the birthplace of the protestant music. Johan Sebastian Bach`s teacher learned music playing here. After the court became Catholic again, they used the chapel for music and theater.

The federal government of Germany sees in Dresden their little pet. That means: More money and criticism of the city`s management. Hundreds of millions being pumped in to turn Dresden into Germany's third largest museums destination. Some collections are world standard. For example Osman and Arab collections, Jewelry and horse item collections to name a view.

Many people don`t know: The castle housed the oldest museum collection open for public! First opening was 1580 I think. Anyway I will contact that museum and ask for pictures from them. After all: Public relations! Wish me luck!!

That really IS good news, given the modernism fetish that infects the city government.
